Fraud Deflect helps businesses make better decisions around fraud, chargebacks, disputes, alerts, and operational performance. We work with high-volume operational data and need clear, trusted reporting that helps teams move quickly and make better decisions.
About the Role
The Technical Project Manager will work closely with engineering and collaborate with client experience, operations, and leadership to manage technical projects from planning through completion. This person should be organized, clear, and comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is not a purely administrative project management role. The right person should understand enough about software, APIs, data, incident management, change management, and technical dependencies to ask good questions, spot blockers, and help teams stay aligned. Familiarity with ITIL practices is important, especially around incident management, change management, service management, problem management, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Manage technical projects across engineering, product, and operations.
* Help define project scope, timelines, milestones, owners, and priorities.
* Track progress and make sure work is moving forward.
* Identify blockers, risks, and dependencies early.
* Keep stakeholders updated on status, changes, and next steps.
* Coordinate technical work involving APIs, data, internal tools, customer workflows, IT systems, and integrations.
* Help organize Jira tickets, documentation, meeting notes, and follow-ups.
* Make sure decisions, requirements, and action items are clearly documented.
* Support launch planning, testing coordination, and rollout communication.
* Support incident follow-ups, change coordination, and post-implementation reviews.
* Help improve lightweight processes around service delivery, technical operations, and project execution.
* Improve processes that help the team move faster without adding unnecessary overhead.
Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in technical project management, project management, product operations, engineering operations, engineering project management, or a similar role.
* Experience working with software engineering teams.
* Familiarity with ITIL practices, including incident management, change management, problem management, service management, and continuous improvement.
* Strong understanding of basic technical concepts such as APIs, databases, integrations, cloud systems, IT systems, and production releases.
* Strong communication and organization skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
* Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities.
* Able to turn unclear problems into clear next steps.
* Experience using tools like Jira Software, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, Jira Service Management, or similar platforms.
Required Skills
* ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent practical experience.
* Experience in fintech, payments, fraud prevention, chargebacks, banking, or risk.
* Experience working on customer integrations or partner integrations.
* Basic SQL knowledge.
* Experience working at a startup or small fast-moving company.
* Familiarity with compliance, reporting, audits, service management, or operational workflows.
What Success Looks Like
* Projects have clear owners, timelines, and next steps.
* Engineering has fewer interruptions caused by unclear requirements or missing coordination.
* Leadership has better visibility into what is being worked on, what is blocked, and what needs a decision.
* Teams are aligned before launches, production changes, and major operational updates.
* Incidents, changes, and follow-up actions are tracked clearly.
* Work gets delivered more consistently without adding unnecessary process.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is organized, technical enough to understand engineering and IT discussions, and practical enough to keep things moving. They should be able to communicate clearly, follow up consistently, and help bring structure to fast-moving projects without slowing the team down.
warning
This is a fully remote position, PJ contract and salary range is 28-35/hr USD.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years in Technical Program Management, Program Management, or Delivery/Project Leadership in software/product environments.
• Strong experience working with engineering teams (front-end, back-end, APIs, integrations) and translating requirements into execution plans.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel workstreams with dependencies, ambiguity, and shifting priorities.
• Comfort operating in Agile delivery environments and facilitating common delivery ceremonies.
• Strong ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders—written, verbal, and executive-ready status reporting.
• Proven organizational skills: structured thinking, attention to detail, follow-through, and accountability.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• CPG experience (Consumer Packaged Goods) or work supporting enterprise-scale commerce, marketing, or customer platforms.
• Experience using GitHub for product/engineering workflows (issues, epics, project boards, milestones, release tracking).
• AI workflow experience (automation, copilots/assistants, orchestration tools, or applied AI to improve delivery ops).
• Experience supporting digital commerce capabilities (e.g., customer experience, product catalogs, order flows, promotions, personalization, content, analytics).
• Familiarity with Elixir and/or React environments—enough to partner effectively with engineers, understand constraints, and anticipate delivery risks.
Job Description
The Digital Commerce team is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to amplify product delivery and relieve a Product Manager who is currently balancing product discovery alongside multiple concurrent projects. This TPM will drive program execution across cross-functional teams—translating product intent into clear plans, predictable delivery, and measurable outcomes—while ensuring work is well-managed in GitHub (where our PM workflows now live). This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of product, engineering, and operations—bringing structure, visibility, and momentum to complex initiatives, and enabling the PM to focus on customer and market discovery.
• Own end-to-end program management for multiple digital commerce initiatives, from intake through delivery and rollout.
• Build and maintain integrated plans (milestones, dependencies, risks, resourcing, timeline) across product, engineering, data, QA, security, and partner teams.
• Drive delivery rituals: standups, sprint/iteration planning support, backlog readiness, dependency reviews, status reporting, and go/no-go readiness.
• Serve as the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders—ensuring alignment on scope, sequencing, tradeoffs, and “definition of done.”
• Proactively manage dependencies, risks, and decisions; escalate with context and options, not just problems.
• Ensure clear communication across teams and leadership with concise updates and action-oriented readouts.
• Help standardize how initiatives are tracked in GitHub (e.g., issues, epics, project boards, milestones), driving consistent hygiene and visibility.
• Improve team throughput by reducing friction in processes and tooling (templates, workflows, reporting, intake). • Identify opportunities to use AI-enabled workflows to reduce overhead (e.g., release comms drafting, backlog grooming support, automated status summaries, incident triage workflows, documentation acceleration) while maintaining governance and quality.
• Partner with engineering and product to implement pragmatic automation that improves delivery efficiency.
• Coordinate release plans across teams: readiness checklists, rollout sequencing, communication plans, training/support readiness, and post-launch monitoring.
• Ensure operational handoffs and documentation are complete for production support.
