Senior Network Administrator – Questrade Financial Group (QFG)
The Senior IT Network Administrator designs, implements, and operates Questrade Global Enterprise Network and Cloud Infrastructure. The role focuses on effective design, provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of multi‑vendor network hardware, software, and related infrastructure in heterogeneous, complex environments, primarily using Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet devices.
Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and support the functional Global Network (Data center, LAN, Campus, WAN, WLAN, IPSEC, VTI, Cloud).
* Support and maintain various L2/L3 routing protocols—including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VXLAN, STP—and other L2/L3 technologies.
* Create and maintain project and procedural documentation.
* Manage the network using monitoring, performance, and configuration tools such as SolarWinds.
* Automate routine network operational tasks.
* Participate in network performance improvements, capacity planning, and scaling.
* Manage third‑party vendors and service performance.
* Provide Tier 2–4 level support for network infrastructure.
* Assist in office network construction and expansion from acquisitions and mergers, DC migration, and disaster recovery orchestrations.
* Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule, including network change management, software upgrades, maintenance, and after‑hours technical support.
Qualifications
* 5+ years experience as a Senior Network Administrator/Engineer in a mid to large‑scale environment (up to 1000 devices) with exposure to Cisco platforms (routers, switches, firewalls, ISE), Juniper, and Fortinet firewalls and cloud networking.
* Professional certifications (CCNP, CCDP, Cloud, Juniper, Fortinet).
* Hands‑on experience with any cloud provider (Google Cloud preferred).
* Hands‑on experience with L2/L3 routing protocols (STP, 802.1Q/X, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IPSEC).
* Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls.
* Solid experience with network administration and architecture.
* Strong complex network troubleshooting skills.
* Strong documentation and presentation skills.
* Eagerness to learn new skills and develop new techniques.
* Strong attention to detail, comprehensive problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Must be able to effectively follow procedures and policies.
* Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
* Disaster Recovery/High Availability experience is an asset.
* Experience in regulated environments (SOC, ISO27001, NIT, PCI) including escalations, change, and incident management is an asset.
* Experience presenting and influencing technology strategy with executives.
* GCP experience is an asset.
