Programme OverviewOur client, a leading telecommunications provider, is delivering a large-scale enterprise data transformation programme focused on migrating legacy platforms into a modern, cloud-based data ecosystem.They are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Data Architect with strong Snowflake and Databricks expertise to define, design, and oversee the target-state architecture across the migration landscape.This is a strategic, long-term role with significant architectural ownership and influence across business and technology domains.
Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and own the target data architecture for migration to Snowflake and DatabricksDesign scalable, secure, and high-performance data platform solutionsLead architecture decisions across ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption layersOversee migration of legacy data warehouses and ETL frameworksEstablish best practices for data modelling, governance, and platform optimisationCollaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, and business stakeholdersProvide technical leadership and architectural governance throughout deliveryEnsure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and regulatory requirements
Required ExperienceProven experience as a Data Architect on large-scale migration or transformation programmesDeep hands-on and architectural expertise in Snowflake (data warehousing, optimisation, performance tuning)Strong experience with Databricks and Apache SparkExtensive experience designing modern cloud data platformsStrong background in data modelling (enterprise-level, dimensional & modern architectures)Experience working in complex enterprise environments (telecommunications or similar scale preferred)Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
