This role in summary
The Manager, Regulatory Affairs (RA) will provide leadership in managing regulatory affairs for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region, including regulatory monitoring, developing, facilitating and implementing government regulatory strategies in collaboration and execution with both the KitchenAid Small Domestic Appliance (SDA) business unit and engineering groups. Beyond being the overall Manager for RA in Europe, Middle East & Africa, this role will lead RA activities on a Global level related to Chemicals & Materials, EPR and potentially other regulatory classifications. This position reports to the Director, Global Regulatory Affairs.
Your responsibilities will include
1. Lead KitchenAid SDA business unit regulatory framework to drive strategic and effective product regulatory compliance, public policy outcomes that support the needs of the KitchenAid SDA business unit and product development teams.
2. Develop and execute regional regulatory public policy advocacy strategies with government agencies, trade associations, and non-governmental organizations.
3. Liaise and lead the Whirlpool collaboration with APPLIA and AMDEA associations. Participate and lead working groups and other trade groups on regulatory matters and key issues. Attend/participate in appropriate meetings to advocate for Whirlpool regulatory and policy positions.
4. Deploy strategies, programs, policies, manuals, guidelines, and training programs to continually reduce risk of non-compliance with current and upcoming regional product regulatory guidelines, rules, and regulations.
5. Lead regional inputs to global product requirements database, and maintain forward-looking regulatory roadmaps to inform product planning process.
6. Drive regional outcomes to support global regulatory affairs objectives and priorities through project initiation & core team member activation.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with business functions, including government relations, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and legal.
8. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with government agencies in support of product regulatory compliance.
9. Work effectively across the organization with others based in Belgium and virtually around the region and globe, including the ability to develop strong internal relationships across various levels of organization, to support a culture of integrity and values-driven performance and give advice on specific product regulatory matters.
Minimum requirements
10. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Public Policy, Business, Economics, or related field
11. 10-15 years of Professional Experience
Preferred skills and experiences
12. Global business is conducted in English; other languages helpful
13. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Public Policy, Business, Economics, or related field
14. 5-10 years of experience in product development
15. 5-10 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs related to consumer products
16. Strong business acumen with ability to analyze the impact of complex legislation and regulatory proposals
17. Mental ability to manage complex interpersonal interactions with others, solve problems, make decisions, operate independently and with discretion, and work effectively under pressure
18. Collaborative working style – able to work across a complex, matrixed organization
19. Detail oriented but also able to see the “big picture”
20. Enjoys challenges - need to be willing to roll-up your sleeves and dig in to understand the drivers and identify potential problem solutions
