Senior Database Administrator | Oracle 19c | Cloud | DevOps | Multi-Platform
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Oracle DBA who can own, optimize, and evolve enterprise database platforms that support mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate combines deep Oracle Database 19c expertise with modern cloud, automation, and DevOps practices to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performing database services at scale. This is an English speaking role. 2 days on site in Ghent, parking space provided.
What you’ll do
* Design, operate, and optimize high availability and disaster recovery solutions aligned to RTO/RPO objectives
* Diagnose and resolve performance issues through instance and SQL tuning, optimizer analysis, and capacity planning
* Implement secure, compliant configurations (encryption, TLS, access controls, auditing)
* Own backup, recovery, patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime
* Define SLAs, monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks using Oracle Enterprise Manager and custom observability tools
* Drive cost optimization across on-prem and cloud environments
Cloud, DevOps & Automation
* Design hybrid architectures and integrate databases within Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, DMS, DataSync)
* Implement Infrastructure as Code and database lifecycle automation within CI/CD pipelines
* Build operational tooling and automation using Python
* Deliver repeatable, testable processes for provisioning, patching, backup validation, and environment lifecycle management
Multi-Platform Experience
* Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB
* Apply consistent HA, performance, backup, and security principles across platforms
Team & Leadership
* Thrive in Agile/Scrum environments with strong collaboration across engineering and product teams
* Mentor junior DBAs and engineers, promoting operational excellence and best practices
* Communicate clearly with stakeholders, translating technical tradeoffs into business impact and leading postmortems and capacity reviews
Nice to have
* Experience with ORDS/APEX, SQL Server
* Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet
* Container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
* Workflow orchestration with Apache Airflow
* Jira or similar delivery tools
* French/Dutch.
