About the Role
A major international manufacturing company is seeking an experienced
Accounting Manager
for a 12-month contract based in Brussels. The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional with strong leadership capabilities, excellent technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to operate in a dynamic, multinational environment.
You will oversee accounting operations, ensure compliance with local and group standards, and support key finance initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Operations
* Lead day-to-day accounting operations for the Belgian entity and support international reporting requirements.
* Oversee general ledger activities, reconciliations, accruals, and monthly/quarterly/year-end closings.
* Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in compliance with Belgian GAAP and internal policies.
* Supervise the preparation of statutory accounts and support the annual audit process.
Financial Reporting
* Produce and review monthly and quarterly management reports.
* Ensure timely submission of group reporting packages.
* Provide analysis on variances, trends, and financial performance to senior management.
* Support budgeting and forecasting cycles in collaboration with finance leadership.
Compliance & Controls
* Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate guidelines.
* Support tax compliance processes (VAT, CIT documentation, audit support).
* Contribute to risk assessments and continuous improvement of financial governance.
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Supervise, mentor, and support accounting team members.
* Work closely with operations, supply chain, and plant teams to ensure accurate financial integration of manufacturing activities.
* Serve as a key liaison with external auditors, banks, and external service providers.
Process Improvement & Systems
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Support ERP enhancements or transitions as required by the finance function.
* Streamline reporting and accounting workflows in line with group objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* 7+ years of experience
in accounting, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
* Prior experience in a
manufacturing or industrial environment
strongly preferred.
* Strong technical knowledge of Belgian GAAP and familiarity with international accounting principles.
* Fluency in
French
is mandatory;
Dutch
is a strong advantage.
* Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international environment.
