We are seeking an experienced Senior Flight Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Flight Control Engineering team in Brazil.
We are seeking accomplished, self‑motivated engineers to design, analyze, test, and certify flight control laws systems for large commercial aircraft, supporting production and fleet operations. The flight control laws and auto‑flight teams bring new derivative aircraft into service and prepare advanced flight control technology for current and next‑generation airliners.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and execute system‑ and component‑level validation activities including:
o Linear analyses for performance and robustness (rigid‑body modes and flexible modes).
o Non‑linear testing across multiple integration levels (software‑in‑the‑loop, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, iron bird, and pilot‑in‑the‑loop simulators) covering nominal operations, failure modes, and environmental disturbances (e.g., turbulence, gusts).
o Test planning, real‑time monitoring, post‑test analysis, report writing, and test failure mitigation.
* Develop system and subsystem architecture alternatives for primary flight control law functions to meet requirements and objectives.
* Analyze and compare alternatives (trade study) to rapidly converge on preferred configurations including defining and executing system simulations and development test programs.
* Verify flight control requirements through simulation and analytical methods.
* Resolve airplane‑level requirements into system‑level requirements and further into functional requirements with time‑ and cost‑efficient validation methods.
* Analyze and resolve rejections and ground/flight test squawks; review ground/flight test data for design validation and certification compliance.
* Investigate problem reports and ensure timely resolution/disposition.
* Participate in certification activities, creating certification artifacts: system safety analyses, FMEA, fault trees; demonstrate regulatory traceability and resolve compliance issues.
* Support production efforts, resolving prototype and first‑build problems at Boeing and supplier facilities; ensure readiness for production start‑up milestones (power‑on, system gauntlet, system functional test, ground test, first flight).
* Coordinate cross‑functionally within and outside Boeing with manufacturing, avionics, crew‑ops, airplane safety, aerodynamics, supply chain management, BCA systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
* Existing rights to work in Brazil.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
* Registration or eligibility to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (CREA) – applicable to Brazilian graduates within 6 months and foreign engineers when visa sponsorship is available.
* Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* In‑depth experience with modeling and control systems.
* In‑depth experience with system monitoring design and signal input processing.
* Programming experience.
* In‑depth experience with certification processes for aeronautical products.
* Knowledge of modeling with Matlab/Simulink.
* Knowledge of flight mechanics.
* Knowledge of programming languages (Python or C++).
* Knowledge of requirement management tools (IBM Rational DOORS).
* Knowledge of version control systems (GIT/SVN or equivalent).
