Head of Merger & Acquisition at Fluxys
Job purpose
You will head up the Group’s global mergers and acquisitions strategy and become a key player in the energy transformation. Your task will be to boost international growth, secure strategic assets and shape a sustainable energy future. You will be responsible for the entire M&A process, from identifying opportunities to closing deals, while ensuring strategic alignment and value creation.
Your responsibilities
* You will define and implement Fluxys’ external growth strategy in Europe and beyond, providing advice to senior management and ensuring the achievement of strategic objectives.
* You will develop the global M&A roadmap and turn the vision into annual objectives, guidelines and projects for the M&A team.
* You will help build and update the pipeline of opportunities (investments, asset acquisitions, joint ventures) by identifying and defining high-impact targets, in line with the Group’s strategy.
* You will identify strategic partnerships as well as growth opportunities.
* You will head up, in conjunction with relevant internal teams and external partners, the analysis, development and implementation of transactions, including structuring, assessing, due diligence, contractual negotiations and signing/closing the deal.
* You will produce robust business cases and strategic and financial analyses to support internal approval processes.
* You will help manage stakeholders (partners in joint ventures, advisers, authorities, etc.), building and consolidating relationships of trust with key market players.
* You will support other internal teams in drawing up integration roadmaps.
* You will take charge of strategic monitoring and set up effective internal and external information networks to anticipate trends and identify high-potential opportunities.
* You will lead and inspire the M&A team, develop talent and foster seamless collaboration to ensure successful and well-integrated deals.
* You will improve organisational efficiency by establishing best practices and proposing improvements with a cross‑functional vision, fostering a culture of compliance, agility and continuous learning.
About you
* You hold a master’s degree in engineering, economics, or law and have substantial expertise in complex, international environments.
* You have at least 10 years of relevant experience in mergers and acquisitions, ideally in the energy or infrastructure sector.
* You combine keen business acumen with an excellent understanding of financial and contractual mechanisms to structure and manage complex operations.
* As a recognised leader, you have a proven track record in managing and inspiring teams, motivating talent in high‑pressure environments.
* You possess policy/strategic acumen and can manage relationships at the highest level, being a trusted partner for stakeholders.
* You have excellent communication and negotiation skills, influencing others and forging successful partnerships.
* You thrive in a cross‑functional, dynamic environment where agility and speed of decision-making are crucial.
* You have an entrepreneurial spirit, a results‑oriented approach, and can turn opportunities into tangible achievements.
* You are fluent in Dutch and/or French as well as English, ensuring comfort in an international setting.
