PEFC Belgium is the forest certification standard‑setting body that guarantees that wood and paper come from sustainably and responsibly managed forests.
Together with a network of more than 700 companies and 500 forest owners, PEFC Belgium works every day to promote sustainable forest management in Belgium, while contributing to forest protection worldwide. We are looking for a passionate, curious and enthusiastic Marketing & Communication Manager to join our Brussels‑based team under a replacement contract.
In this role, you will help bring PEFC’s mission to life: giving a sustainable dimension to projects, strengthening the visibility of certified materials and inspiring stakeholders across the wood‑paper value chain.

This contract is concluded pursuant to the Belgian Act of 3 July 1978, article 11bis — replacement of an employee unable to work.
Responsibilities
You will lead the development and implementation of PEFC Belgium’s annual MARCOMM plan, ensuring both strategic direction and hands‑on execution.
* Coordinating the MARCOMM team, including the assistant and external agency.
* Designing and implementing the annual MARCOMM plan.
* Defining, managing and actively monitoring the MARCOMM budget.
* Tracking statistics, performance indicators and KPIs.
* Developing PEFC Belgium’s communication strategy with clarity, consistency and impact.
Marketing campaigns
You will turn PEFC’s mission into visible, meaningful and effective campaigns — always close to the field, the forest and the value chain.
* Developing marketing campaigns in close collaboration with the account managers.
* Creating communication tools such as brochures, reports and annual publications.
* Briefing, developing and supervising digital communications, including newsletters, social media and the website.
* Managing media planning and sponsored content.
* Ensuring that PEFC’s message reaches the right audiences with the right tone, at the right moment.
Media relations
You will help strengthen PEFC Belgium’s voice towards specialised media, institutional stakeholders and key prescribers.
* Developing relations with the specialised press.
* Writing content for specialised media.
* Filtering and managing incoming press requests.
* Supporting the Secretary General with writing, presentations, speeches and institutional communication.
Events and partnerships
You will bring PEFC to life at fairs, events and through relevant partnerships.
* Coordinating major public events and fairs, including Libramont and similar initiatives.
* Managing communication around B2B and B2C trade fairs.
* Developing communication partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
* Participating in international PEFC Task Teams, including Construction TT and Communications TT.
Languages
FR — French
NL — Dutch
A trilingual command of French, Dutch and English is expected.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in communication, marketing or equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in communication, marketing or public relations.
* Excellent command of French, Dutch and English.
* Excellent writing skills in all three languages.
* Strong knowledge of social media and digital tools.
* Passion for forests, wood and sustainability.
* Entrepreneurial and strategic mindset.
* Curious, enthusiastic and a true team player.
* Category B driving licence.
* Knowledge of marketing automation.
* Good command of Photoshop or similar creative tools.
* Experience in specialised press relations.
* Knowledge of the forestry, wood or paper sector.
* Experience in coordinating professional events.
