About the program

This is a structured development program designed to kickstart your career and allow you to grow both personally and professionally, while making an impact in the organization.

The Graduate Development Program in DigitalXchange Community Manager is a 2-year rotational program consisting of 2 rotations of 12 months across the Digital Technology department. Through this program, you will be exposed to different departments and gain practical, hands-on experience that will allow you to build a strong foundation to pursue a career in marketing and communications, while expanding your understanding of global business.

You will gain knowledge and develop skills in design thinking, creating experiences, and building a user-centric community that furthers our digital transformation goals. Working with colleagues from every department within UCB, and not only at a global level, but regional as well, you will gain key skills to understanding how to define strategies to reach objectives and work cross-culturally to achieve them.

Your first rotation will be in:
• DigitalXchange team where you will be responsible for managing, animating, and developing our digital transformation community of practice. You will report to the Head of Digital Technology Communication and Change and collaborate closely with the community’s Program Managers to further develop and execute on its strategy. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills. From community management to content creation, event coordination, and analytics and reporting you will obtain a holistic understanding of what it takes to drive and build a transversal, global team and community.
Your next rotation will be:
• Design, Experience & Product Services IT (DEPSIT) where you will, like with other UX Researcher & Designer trainees, explore user needs through qualitative and quantitative research methods—such as interviews, surveys, usability testing (including SUS evaluations), and shadowing. You’ll translate insights into actionable outputs like personas, journey maps, and improvement plans. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll actively contribute to design thinking workshops and ideation sessions. A key part of your role will be hands-on design work: creating wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma to support product development. You’ll also help communicate UX findings to stakeholders, support internal marketing efforts, and track usability improvements to foster continuous enhancement of the user experience.

Who you’ll work with

You will have the opportunity to work closely with a variety of people across our organization. You will be part of a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about creating value for patients now and into the future. You will also have the chance to interact with experienced managers who will provide guidance and coaching throughout your rotations. In addition, you will be assigned a mentor who will provide support and guidance as you progress through your career as well as a buddy who will provide advice and guidance on the different aspects of working at UCB.

Finally, you will also be part of UCB Early Talent community and connect with other graduates across the organization through learning and development sessions, networking, and social activities. You’ll be mentored and supported by a diverse team of experts - including UX designers, project managers, engineers, AI specialists, and developers—offering you a rich, collaborative learning environment across multiple domains.

What you’ll learn

Throughout the 2-year program, you will be assigned to different projects and teams that will allow you to develop essential skills including project management, problem-solving, continuous improvement, design thinking, strategic planning, event management, and workshop facilitation. By working in different teams, you will be exposed to a broad scope of activities, helping you to gain expertise knowledge around developing solutions that are fit for purpose, user-centric, and enhancing and furthering our digital transformation.

By the end of the program, you will have a well-rounded understanding of our business and be equipped with the skills and knowledge to take on new challenges and build the career that is right for you. The expertise acquired will enable you to either pursue an expert career in one of these topics or pursue a generalist career path where you will profit from the holistic overview you will have gained by then.

Although you will receive support and guidance throughout the program, we expect you to take ownership of your development and actively contribute not only to your own growth but also to the collective success of the team.
