We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Test Manager to lead a distributed team of seven QA professionals across our Brussels and Rotterdam offices. This is a strategic, people-first leadership role - not a hands-on testing position. You will be responsible for shaping the QA function, establishing a robust test automation framework, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality QA service across the organisation.
The preferred candidate will be based in Brussels and will be a fluent French speaker, comfortable operating in a bilingual environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Coordination
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of seven QA engineers across Brussels and Rotterdam, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
* Act as the primary point of contact for QA matters, aligning team priorities with business objectives.
* Manage resource allocation, workload planning, and performance reviews across both sites.
* Support team members in their professional development and career progression.
QA Service Delivery
* Own and continuously improve the end-to-end QA service offering, ensuring consistent quality standards across all deliverables.
* Define and govern quality gates, test strategies, and sign-off criteria for software releases.
* Produce clear, executive-level reporting on quality metrics, defect trends, and team performance.
* Act as a key stakeholder and escalation point for quality-related issues across programmes.
Test Automation Framework
* Define, establish, and evangelise a scalable test automation framework appropriate to the organisation's technology landscape.
* Set standards and best practices for automation tooling, test coverage, and CI/CD integration.
* Enable and upskill the team to adopt and extend the framework effectively — driving capability without being hands-on day to day.
Methodology & Governance
* Champion and embed industry-leading test methodologies (Agile, BDD, risk-based testing, etc.) across the QA function.
* Develop and maintain test policies, processes, and documentation standards.
* Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align on testing scope and quality expectations.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven experience managing QA or test teams of similar scale, ideally in a multi-site environment.
* Deep expertise in test methodology — including both manual and automated testing approaches.
* Demonstrated track record of establishing or significantly maturing a test automation framework from scratch.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide without being hands-on.
* Fluent in French, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Comfortable working across cultures and geographies (Belgium / Netherlands).
Desirable
* Experience testing software products, pricing engines, or digital transformation programmes.
* Background in regulated or enterprise software environments.
* Familiarity with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, TestRail, Jira, or equivalent.
* Knowledge of Dutch or English in addition to French.
* Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps quality practices.
