What You’ll Do
The Government Affairs team, based in Geneva and key capitals worldwide, addresses global policy issues, EU and local market priorities. The VP, Government Affairs (Europe), will focus on EU policy and key European markets, with potential involvement with UN agencies and IMO.
This role involves engaging with the European Commission, Parliament, and Council on EU shipping policies, located in Brussels or Geneva. Key policy areas include Climate and Sustainability, Trade, Competitiveness, Innovation & Digitalization, Regulation, and Responsible Tourism.
Role and Responsibilities
The Group VP, Government Affairs (Europe), will be a strategic leader advocating for MSC with policymakers and stakeholders, enhancing government relations across the Group. Responsibilities include:
* Leading MSC’s advocacy efforts in Europe and globally.
* Assessing EU policy developments and their impact on MSC.
* Communicating MSC’s positions to policymakers and officials.
* Building relationships with policymakers, partners, and organizations.
* Providing updates to MSC leadership and stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
* At least 15 years of experience with European institutions, regulators, or governments, ideally within transport or logistics.
* Knowledge of the shipping industry is an advantage but not essential.
* Understanding of European policy frameworks relevant to MSC.
* Passion for maritime matters.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organized, proactive, and able to multitask diplomatically.
* University degree; advanced degree preferred.
* Fluent in English and at least one other major European language.
