Project Engineering Manager Traction Systems – English required – ALTEN Belgium
The Position
As part of our continuous growth, we are looking for a Project Engineering Manager - Traction Systems, to join our teams and work on client projects located in Charleroi.
As a Project Engineering Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
* Leading technical decisions for traction subsystems: motors, converters, traction chains, and high‑power electronics
* Ensuring technical quality, compliance, safety, and robustness of engineering solutions
* Managing the delivery of Engineering Work Packages in line with QCD commitments (Quality, Cost, Delivery)
* Coordinating and functionally leading multiple engineering disciplines:
* Driving planning, risk management, milestones, and reporting activities
* Acting as the engineering interface towards the Project Manager and internal/external stakeholders
* Leading design reviews, gate reviews, and ensuring timely closure of C1/C2 actions
* Defining and applying the Engineering Management Plan and contributing to continuous improvement initiative
Your Profile
* Engineering degree or equivalent (mandatory)
* Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering project management within complex industrial environments
* Strong technical background in traction systems, high‑power / high‑voltage electronics, or heavy energy systems
* Proven experience working in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑stakeholder contexts, ideally in the railway sector or complex systems
* Solid knowledge of QCD principles, risk management, and technical governance
* Ability to operate in demanding, politically sensitive, and client‑facing environments
* Proficient in : Engineering Project Management; traction systems, converters, motors, high‑power / high‑voltage electronics, requirements management, configuration, RAMS
* Fluent English mandatory & Professional level of French
* You have strong technical leadership and coordination abilities and excellent communication and stakeholder management
