ENGINEERING TEAM LEAD - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We're currently recruiting for an Engineering Team Lead who will manage and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for validation, testing, and moving new product concepts towards production.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and program execution, ensuring that products developed within R&D are robust, fully qualified, manufacturable, and ready for operational deployment. The successful candidate will play a central role in driving product readiness, improving engineering processes, and enabling efficient collaboration between development and production teams.
The Engineering Team Lead will oversee both strategic and operational activities, including validation methodologies, test automation, production transfer processes, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires a strong technical background combined with leadership capability, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and international teams.
The position involves close collaboration with engineering leadership, project managers, production teams, and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of product roadmaps and delivery objectives. In addition to leading the team, the Engineering Team Lead will contribute to the evolution of processes, tools, and best practices that improve product quality, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary engineering team across multiple locations.
* Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
* Support employee development, coaching, recruitment, and long-term capability building.
* Help establish clear priorities and align team activities with broader business objectives.
* Oversee engineering activities related to product verification, readiness, and operational deployment.
* Ensure projects are executed effectively, with appropriate planning, tracking, and risk management.
* Support the development and improvement of engineering workflows, tools, and best practices.
* Drive efficiency, consistency, and quality across engineering and operational processes.
* Contribute to resolving complex technical and operational challenges when required.
* Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, and program teams to ensure effective coordination and delivery.
* Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Support smooth handover of new developments into operational environments.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address technical issues and improvement opportunities.
* Contribute to the evolution of engineering processes, standards, and methodologies.
* Identify opportunities to improve scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
* Support strategic planning and roadmap execution within the broader engineering organization.
* Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team
Required Skills & Experience
* Master’s degree or equivalent experience in an engineering or related technical discipline.
* Approximately 10 years of relevant industry experience.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
* Experience in project or program management.
* Experience working within multi-site or international organizations is advantageous.
* Experience with product validation and qualification processes is beneficial.
* Strong experience with test automation and measurement systems.
* Extensive knowledge of laboratory equipment and test environments.
* Experience designing test plans and validation procedures.
* Experience supporting industrialization and transfer of R&D outputs into production is an advantage.
* Broad understanding of hardware, embedded systems, software, mechanical systems, and system-level engineering concepts.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Problem-solving and analytical mindset.
* Structured and detail-oriented approach to work.
* Ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives independently.
* Strong collaboration and cross-cultural communication skills.
