Offer Description
What you will do
Compute System Architecture (CSA) is a center of excellence at IMEC, focusing on HW-SW-Technology co-design for future compute systems.
As a network architect/researcher in CSA at IMEC, you will play a key role in shaping future machine-scale network design with emerging architectural and technological innovations (such as photonics/optical interconnect, wireless). This includes working with network models, customizing them as needed, considering the target innovations, and designing/running experiments to advance research. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and colleagues both within and outside CSA to interface with workload models and capture technological aspects.
* Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering.
* 6+ years (4+ post PhD) of relevant experience. If you have slightly less experience but are a strong fit in other expectations, we encourage you to apply.
* Strong background in large-scale network design, including topology, routing, congestion control, communication protocols, and resilience; and performance analysis such as traffic modeling and network characterization.
* Experience with network modeling tools (e.g., NS3, OMNET++, SST/Merlin, etc.).
* Familiarity with networks-on-chip is a plus.
* Optional: Familiarity with recent industry initiatives like Ultra-ethernet, CXL, UALink.
* Knowledge and experience with good software/hardware engineering practices (e.g., quality, version control, CI/unit tests).
* Enjoyment in hands-on work, mentoring junior colleagues, and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
