Medical Writer Job Description
* Medical Writer (MW) is a part of the Project Team. MW may work directly with clients, doctors, scientists, and other people in the medical/pharmaceutical profession, and at the same time coordinates with other Project Team members. MW is responsible for research and write a variety of educational, promotional, or informative materials to a high standard for different target audiences including (but not limited to) protocols, event executive summaries, slide deck discussions and medical content, educational materials, briefing documents.
Medical Writer Responsibilities
* Research and develop written materials to the highest scientific and grammatical standards, according to internal/client brief.
* Contribute to document quality control (reviewing data accuracy, formatting and appropriateness of language, and compliance with related guidelines) and scientific accuracy.
* Display excellent technical accuracy, correct interpretation of source documents, good attention to detail, creativity (where appropriate) and (with some guidance) the ability to tailor materials appropriately for a range of educational needs and target audiences, with adherence to timelines and budgeted hours.
* Methodically incorporate internal/client/author comments using a scientifically accurate and balanced approach.
* Exercise good interpersonal/communication skills for effective and professional liaison with the internal team, clients, healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders and to obtain comprehensive briefs and responses to queries.
* Actively participate in meetings with relevant internal and external stakeholders, where necessary, and respond effectively to questions relating to allocated areas of responsibility.
* Monitor assigned projects and managed own workload, taking ownership, and anticipating capacity issues and potential solutions.
* Engage in continuous learning: shows commitment to being familiar with new regulations and industry standards, new medical data available, and new processes that impact Medical Writing.
Medical Writer Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Science/Medical. PhD or MD preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant writing or related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* Strong computer skills, including MS office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet
* Experience with research tools and approaches. Good research skills and ability to interpret scientific and clinical data.
* Strong, versatile medical writing skills
* Strong oral presentation skills, including ability to present and explain data analyses.
* Ability to collaborate successfully with all levels and roles in cross-functional, global teams.
* Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to generate grammatically correct, consistent, scientifically accurate materials, using appropriate writing styles for different audiences.
* Critical thinking to structure documents so that they present complex information in a clear, concise way
* Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure, with strong organizational and project management skills.
* Language skills. High fluency in spoken and written English.
Non-standard Work Schedule, Travel or Environment Requirements
* Some travel (5%) for face-to-face meetings, if necessary.
* Depending on location may need to accommodate global teleconference calls across different time zones.
