Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development, and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber), and Aerospace.
MISSION
Thales Belgium (Herstal site) is a world leader in precision guided rocket systems for helicopters and jet aircraft and is a system team of its key engineering activities. To meet its ambitious production and product development roadmap, Thales is increasing its team and looking for a Head of System Engineering.
As Head of System Engineering, you will manage a multidisciplinary team of development within the Engineering department. You will be involved in the design, development, and qualification activities of new products or concepts and in the technical support to Operations and Projects for the in-service product line. You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art Model-Based-Design methods and tools in a high-tech environment. You will be expected to support multiple projects, requiring planning and organizing skills. The Head of System Engineering is a key role, responsible for driving the Systems Engineering team to meet our challenges.
PROFILE:
* You graduated with a Master of Engineering or relevant field and have significant team management experience.
* You have expertise in systems of aeronautics, space, electronics, applied mathematics, or physics domains.
* You understand and want to oversee rocket systems and thrive in a challenging, innovative environment with diverse technical projects.
* You are a leader willing to engage and develop your team (up to 20 persons) through collaborative work and challenging approaches.
* You enjoy sharing knowledge and helping others develop, recognized as a mentor and team-player.
* You are responsible and proactive.
* You have a very good command of French and English.
COMPETENCES
* You can empower and unite employees around clear objectives, acting as a coach and servant leader.
* You possess substantial knowledge of Systems Engineering: embedded hardware, embedded software, algorithms, simulations, and modeling (Matlab/Simulink).
* You can analyze a system holistically, understanding how parts interrelate and operate over time within larger systems.
* You understand system capabilities through functional, logical, and value analytics.
* You appreciate requirements definition, performance analysis, trade studies, constraint evaluation, and cost/benefit analysis.
* You are familiar with Model-Based Systems Engineering and architecture development.
* You have good knowledge of IVVQ, R-A-M-T, norms, and standards.
* You demonstrate a desire for continuous improvement and strategic vision, integrating and anticipating environmental elements to guide your team.
* You know how to adopt Lean Management and Agile principles, applying Scrum and Kanban modes.
