We are currently looking for a Process Development Engineer Moulding for one of our clients in the region of Leuven.Job SummaryIn order to ensure both the existing production and the start-up of this new production unit in the right direction, we are looking to expand our engineering team. Starting from the product requirements, you build robust moulding equipment and processes, including material selection, transport to the assembly lines and start-up of the (new) moulding lines. You will define MVP (minimal viable product) and concept solutions for their disciplines, so that it’s well integrated in the whole concept and perfectly fitting with the outcome requirements of the QFD, SIPOC, PFMEA analysis, supported by the results of engineering studies.Job ResponsibilitiesSet strategic objectives that directly contribute to team performance and business results within your area of expertiseLead the development of product and process concepts from a plastic injection molding perspective, in close collaboration with multidisciplinary development teamsSelect the optimal molding concept by scoring it against required properties, with a focus on material selection and technical feasibilityIndustrialize the selected concept and introduce the necessary equipment into the production environment within the Cross-Functional Team (CFT)Document and define process steps, design principles, techniques, and design rules to serve as guidelines for future projectsAnalyze process variables in injection molding (output-input), identify risks, and set boundaries using SIPOC and FMEA methods, while maintaining these critical documentsPropose necessary equipment, molds, and machines—both standard and custom solutions—and ensure the right choices are made for implementationConduct engineering studies and collaborate with the testing team to set up protocols. Analyze process capability, robustness, and set boundaries critical to both the product and the molding processCreate Global Manufacturing Standards (GMS) for molding equipment in alignment with all stakeholders and ensure these standards are applied globallyStay up to date with cutting-edge technologies in injection molding and plastics processing, share this knowledge internally, and collaborate with external partners to drive innovations that improve cost, quality, and EHS performanceSet and challenge a modular and standardized engineering strategy that fosters efficiency and scalability in product developmentProfile DescriptionMaster in engineering or equivalent, preferable back ground in plastic processingStrong project management & planning skillsStrong communication & presentation skillsFluent in EnglishDeep knowledge of The plastic moulding process(technology & supply base, implementation, risks)Process control tools (6S, ...)Engineering studies & process capabilityTools for requirement analysis, concept creation & concept selectionBroad knowledge of Internal & external standardsMould concepts and functionalitiesPlastics and its propertiesMoulding equipmentthe plastic Moulding Process for common and technical plasticsMouldflow analysesValidation techniques: defining processing window and setup chartAbility to Identify problems and update or modify working methods in own role without the benefit of defined proceduresChallenge (own ideas and others) in order to get best solutionBe action driven when it comes to translate ideas into conceptsBe curious and start exploring automaticallyEmbrace the highest standards and is always looking for simplificationThink conceptually and in systems, but also be able to materialize the conceptsBe organized & accurate to store reports, scouted technologies, standard specifications...and keep them updatedCollect the right input, to analyse complex problems and to find solutionsConvince others within the organisation where strong interest exists to accept new concepts, practices, and approachesBe a coach for others, based on his/her notable strength in his/her area
