Security Engineer / Project ManagerRole SummaryThe Security Engineer / Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of security initiatives and projects within a large Belgian utility and infrastructure organization operating in the water management and environmental services sector.The role sits within the Digital organization and combines project management, deep technical expertise, and an advisory function. Its purpose is to strengthen and safeguard the organization’s digital resilience across multiple domains, including Infrastructure, Software Development, and Operational Technology (OT) environments.This organization operates critical infrastructure and services that are essential to environmental protection and public health, meaning security, availability, and operational continuity are of the highest importance. The role therefore contributes directly to protecting mission-critical systems and industrial environments.The position requires a strong balance between hands-on technical execution and structured project delivery, while also acting as a trusted security advisor across Digital teams.Key Responsibilities1. Security Project Management and DeliverySet up, coordinate, and execute security projects from initiation to completionDefine project plans, scope, and execution approachCoordinate stakeholders, resources, timelines, scope, and budgetDeliver technical security solutions end-to-endCombine project leadership with hands-on technical implementationEnsure quality and adherence to security-by-design principles throughout delivery2. Development and Implementation of Security ProcessesAnalyze, define, and implement security processes, procedures, and controlsTranslate security policies into practical, actionable workflows and guidelinesContinuously improve security processes based on incident analysis, risk assessments, and lessons learnedDrive operational maturity of security practices across the organization3. Technical Security ExpertiseApply deep expertise in modern security platforms, including:Microsoft Defender suiteMicrosoft Entra ID / Active DirectoryIdentity and Access Management (IAM) solutionsEvaluate, configure, and optimize security tools and technologiesSupport troubleshooting and perform deep technical analysis of complex security issuesContribute to secure architecture design and technical decision-making4. Advisory Role within DigitalAct as a trusted security advisor across Digital domains (Infrastructure, Software Development, OT environments, etc.)Provide guidance on security implementations, architecture decisions, risk assessments, and mitigation strategiesSupport and contribute to security governance structuresCollaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders5.
