The Global Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimization of global core infrastructure and manufacturing systems environments. This role provides both technical and operational leadership while ensuring high availability, performance, and security across data centers, cloud platforms, and manufacturing (OT) systems.
The position acts as a key liaison between IT, engineering, manufacturing teams, and external vendors, supporting a 24x7 global manufacturing environment and driving continuous improvement of infrastructure and manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Infrastructure
* Manage and optimize servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure.
* Contribute to the design and execution of global data center strategies, including cloud, co-location, and on-prem environments.
* Research and recommend new technologies aligned with industry best practices.
Manufacturing Systems (OT) Support
* Support, maintain, and enhance virtualized manufacturing environments including Siemens, Rockwell and industrial automation platforms.
* Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors to deploy and support manufacturing computing systems.
* Ensure uptime, resiliency, and performance of manufacturing infrastructure systems.
* Manage capacity planning and lifecycle management for manufacturing systems.
Operations & Service Management
* Provide Level 2/3 support and patching activities for global infrastructure and manufacturing systems within defined SLAs.
* Lead incident response and service restoration during critical outages.
* Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to after-hours issues.
* Ensure adherence to ITSM processes including incident, problem, change, and service management.
Security, Compliance & Governance
* Implement and maintain infrastructure in accordance with corporate security frameworks and policies.
* Manage access controls, permissions, and system compliance.
* Ensure software licensing compliance and adherence to enterprise standards.
Disaster Recovery & Backup
* Contribute to disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and optimization efforts.
* Support enterprise backup strategies ensuring data integrity and recoverability.
Project Delivery
* Serve as a key technical contributor or lead for infrastructure and manufacturing projects.
* Execute deliverables, and ensure milestones are achieved.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned to business needs.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
* Act as primary liaison with vendors for infrastructure systems, support, and escalation.
* Manage vendor performance, SLAs, and issue resolution.
* Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
* Maintain detailed documentation for systems, procedures, and operational standards.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* 3–10+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure
* 3-10+ years in manufacturing/OT environments.
* Experience supporting 24x7 enterprise operations.
* Strong understanding of data center operations (cloud, on-prem, hybrid).
Technical Skills & Expertise
* Virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi 6.x/7.x or higher)
* Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, M365 Administration, Azure, Linux
* Enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
* Networking fundamentals and infrastructure monitoring tools
* Manufacturing/OT technologies including:
* Siemens WinCC including working experience with TIA.
* Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) FactoryTalk.
* ThinManager / Thin Clients.
* Server hardware (HP, Dell), VDI/Terminal Services and enterprise system management
