As a Support & Development Engineer, you play a key role in driving our company's success. You are responsible for upholding the highest health and safety standards on the shop floor, while working closely with colleagues on end-to-end projects. With a strong focus on the EAF-AOD area, you are actively involved in daily operations, coordinate training of employees, leading improvement initiatives, and developing innovative solutions that enhance the steel plant's performance and reinforce our market-leading position.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the daily monitoring and reporting of the EAF and AOD process
Maintains in-depth knowledge of the EAF and AOD operation, auxiliary installations, and the overall steel plant layout and workflow
Acts as a safety ambassador, demonstrating exemplary safety leadership and setting the standard on the steel plant shop floor
Leads and supports continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and address operational bottlenecks
Collaborates closely with HSE, production, process and maintenance departments to achieve project and operational objectives
Initiate, coordinate, and successfully complete projects related to ARMP framework, more specific 5S and Autonomous Maintenance, ensuring proper implementation, follow-up, and sustainable results
Provides technical support and guidance to colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration
Initiates, develops, and executes CAPEX and improvement projects from concept through completion
Ensures all project and process documentation is accurate, up to date, and maintained for transparency and traceability
Monitors project progress to ensure timely execution in compliance with all applicable standards and deadlines
Keeps up to date with relevant industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance project outcomes
Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience as an engineer in an industrial plant setting
Result-oriented with excellent people management skills to lead and motivate operation teams
Highly production-minded, with a clear focus on output, efficiency, and continuity.
Strong team player with the ability to think creatively and solve problems
Deep understanding and commitment to health and safety as a core company value
Hands-on approach with a willingness to be present on the shop floor daily
Analytical thinking to make informed decisions and communicate them effectively
Aspiration and capability to evolve into an Operations Responsible role
Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English; French and German are an asset
Valid work authorization for Belgium is mandatory
