Renewable Energy Project – Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Location: Antwerp, Belgium Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent

The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will play a key role in the design, installation, integration, and commissioning of a large scale renewable energy project incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will ensure that all electrical and instrumentation systems are engineered to the highest technical, safety, and regulatory standards, supporting the project’s mission to deliver reliable, sustainable energy infrastructure in the Antwerp region.
Support integration of BESS components including PCS, inverters, battery racks, HVAC, and fire suppression systems
Ensure compliance with Belgian AREI/REG regulations and IEC standards
Prepare technical specifications, single‑line diagrams, cable schedules, and installation drawings
Oversee electrical installation activities and ensure quality control on site
Ensure proper calibration, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation devices
Coordinate with automation engineers for system integration and FAT/SAT activities
Collaborate with EPC contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams
Provide technical support during procurement, vendor selection, and equipment evaluation
Experience with BESS technologies (inverters, PCS, EMS, battery modules)
Familiarity with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, grid‑connected assets)
Proficiency with instrumentation design and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
Understanding of Belgian and EU electrical standards (AREI/REG, IEC)
Competence with engineering tools (EPLAN, AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar)
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering
