Compliance with the Regulation on the protection of personal data for a company the size of bpost is a major challenge, as bpost processes a large amount of personal data and is in constant evolution.
We are seeking a Deputy Data Protection Officer for our Corporate Compliance & Data Protection Department. This department plays a key role in helping management navigate this challenging environment in a compliant and ethical manner.
As Deputy Data Protection Officer, you will work alongside our Group Data Protection Officer and be responsible for ensuring our company's adherence to all legal standards, internal policies, and procedures. Your primary focus will be on managing the GDPR compliance program, advising and assisting internal stakeholders to ensure personal data processing complies with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
As a Data Protection Legal Expert, your responsibilities will include:
1. Analyzing the legality of personal data processing and making recommendations.
2. Assisting Business Units with Privacy Impact Assessments.
3. Acting as a contact point for Business Units regarding new tools, information collection, and follow-up on recommendations.
4. Developing standard tools and documents such as conventions, guidelines, and templates.
5. Monitoring compliance with data protection laws and organizational policies.
6. Responding to questions and participating in investigations or proceedings by Data Protection Authorities.
7. Drafting privacy notices and informing internal stakeholders.
8. Providing internal training to raise awareness on data protection obligations and best practices.
9. Keeping updated on regulatory developments and adjusting policies accordingly.
10. Conducting specialized legal research on complex data processing issues.
11. Supporting data breach notifications and responses.
12. Participating in audits and ensuring ongoing compliance.
13. Assisting in negotiating data processing agreements.
We value diverse backgrounds and talents. The ideal candidate will have:
* At least 5 years of experience as a Data Protection Lawyer or Privacy Legal Counsel, with a Master’s degree in Law.
* Excellent knowledge of Belgian, European, and International Privacy and Data Protection regulations.
* Strong business acumen, legality, and ethical standards.
* Experience in project management.
* Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and tight deadlines.
* Strong influencing and networking skills.
