The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) provides secure communications and IT services to NATO member countries. Established in 2012 and headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, NCIA delivers cybersecurity, command and control, satellite communications, electronic warfare, and information management services.
Program
The Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS) is part of the NCIA, providing enterprise‑wide IT infrastructure to support alliance operations.

Role Duties And Responsibilities
* Prioritize, plan, and execute threat hunts.
* Work independently and as part of a team.
* Identify improvements to detection and prevention methods (IDS, SIEM, security settings).
* Engage proactively with the cyber community within NATO.
* Report monthly on approved KPIs.
* Create and maintain standard operating procedures for all aspects of the role.
* Provide monthly reports to the customer and business stakeholders.
* Assist the NCSC with cyber incident analysis and response as required.
* Document high‑quality hypotheses and detection use cases in the centralized NCSC knowledge base.
* Advise on, test, and implement AI/ML technologies to augment NCSC processes.
* Improve NCSC processes for receiving, searching, analysing, and storing cyber threat data.
* Lead regular knowledge‑transfer meetings with stakeholders, covering successes, setbacks, lessons learned, and process improvements.
Essential Skills, Experience And Certifications
* Significant demonstrable experience in a cyber security environment.
* Excellent analytical and hypothetical thinking skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills at technical and managerial levels.
* Experience producing accurate, technical and managerial reports on cyber security activities.
* Able to organise and lead, and work as part of a team.
* Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
* Pattern recognition, deductive reasoning.
* Highly desirable: advanced professional SANS certifications (e.g., GCIA, GCFA, GNFA, GREM) or equivalent.
* Demonstrable self‑learning capability on complex technical subjects.
* Knowledge of data analytics, data mining, AI, ML, LLM, RAG concepts.
* Good understanding of at least three of the following: NIDS, HIDS, network security appliances, vulnerability assessment tools, computer forensics tools, network protocols, scripting languages (PowerShell/Python/etc).
* Ability to manage own workload in a high‑tempo environment.
* Excellent communication of technical solutions to diverse audiences.
* Self‑motivated and driven.
* Ability to work in an international environment in mainland Europe (Belgium).
