Customs & VAT Manager
Location: Houthalen, Belgium
Are you passionate about customs compliance and operational excellence? We are looking for a Customs & VAT Manager to join our team and take ownership of all customs-related activities at our site. This is a key role ensuring compliance, efficiency, and strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
What You'll Do
* Act as the main point of contact for Belgian Customs and client queries related to customs matters.
* Coordinate and control Simplified Procedures and Bonded Warehouse processes, including customs entries and globalization files.
* Manage NCTS documents (T1) and ensure adherence to customs guidelines for full compliance.
* Oversee customs operations on-site, including document control and supporting evidence for monthly billing activities.
* Maintain accurate HTC codes, duty tariff information, and provide guidance on parts classification and country of origin.
* Collaborate with internal teams (logistics, purchasing, material management, trade compliance) to ensure customs compliance across functions.
* Engage with Neovia Global Tax & Trade and external advisors on AEO process controls.
* Deliver high-level customer service, liaising with brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers.
What We're Looking For
* Experience in customs activities, simplified procedures, and bonded warehouse operations (AEO experience is a plus).
* Strong understanding of customs processes and ability to propose improvements.
* Solid knowledge of VAT rules related to import/export flows and the ability to ensure correct VAT treatment in operational processes.
* Experience with Intrastat declarations, including accurate data collection and timely reporting.
* Fluency in English and Dutch (written and spoken).
* Degree-level education is desirable.
* Excellent skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and strong analytical and leadership abilities.
