PRODUCT ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONJob Overview:We’re looking for a proactive and technically skilled Product Engineer to lead the industrialization process for new products, - guiding them from initial concept through to final release and mass production. This role requires a unique blend of hands-on engineering expertise, cross-functional project coordination, and an understanding of electronics design and manufacturing processes.As a key player in our development team, you’ll manage the full product lifecycle, working closely with design, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing partners to ensure products are engineered for performance, scalability, and efficient production. You will also work on automation of production processes & test systems, prototype data collection tools, or support rapid development efforts.Key Responsibilities:Lead the industrialization of new products from concept through prototyping, validation, pre-production, and release.Translate product requirements into robust engineering solutions, considering performance, cost, manufacturability, and compliance.Define and drive engineering milestones and deliverables across development phases.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure readiness for manufacturing and product launch.Contribute to the design, review, and validation of electronic systems and components.Support bring-up, debugging, and performance tuning of prototypes and test units.Develop and maintain Python scripts for test automation, data analysis, and internal tools.Integrate Python-based systems with hardware for lab testing, validation, and diagnostic purposes.Use scripting to streamline engineering workflows, testing routines, and documentation processes.Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.3+ years of experience in product engineering, hardware development, or a related role.Solid foundation in electronics design, testing, and manufacturing processes.Proficient in Python programming—experience with hardware interfaces (e.g., serial, I2C, SPI), data logging, or automation is a plus.Strong project management and problem-solving skills; comfortable owning complex technical projects.Preferred:Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad) and schematic/PCB review.Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) principles.Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., CE, FCC, RoHS).Experience working with contract manufacturers or EMS providers.The Offer:Competitive salary.Extra-legal advantages such as insurances, net allowance, meal vouchers etc.Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.Please send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
