Your Mission
As a Field Service Specialist I, you’ll be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance, customer support, and installation assistance—both on-site and remotely. You’ll use a variety of tools, technologies, and communication methods to troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring our customers receive the highest level of service.
Operational Excellence (10%)
1. Participate in ongoing training to maintain and improve technical and service skills.
2. Follow all STERIS policies, GMP standards, and Lean principles.
3. Support team efforts and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Delivering Results (30%)
4. Use collaborative service tools and systems to manage tasks and diagnostics.
5. Read and interpret system schematics, drawings, and documentation.
6. Assist in machine assembly and installation at STERIS and customer sites.
7. Perform routine preventative maintenance under supervision.
8. Collect and transmit diagnostic data to headquarters for analysis.
Customer Relationships (60%)
9. Begin responding to customer service calls with guidance or supervision.
10. Communicate effectively across language and cultural barriers using various formats (email, phone, photos, drawings).
11. Conduct machine conditioning and support remote troubleshooting.
12. Use digital scopes, dosimetry tests, and other tools to diagnose and resolve issues.
13. Travel approximately 40% of the time to customer sites, often accompanied by senior colleagues.
14. Document all service activities in detailed, timely reports, including next steps and parts needed.
Your profile
Education & Experience:
15. Associate degree in electro-mechanical or related field or 6 years of relevant hands-on experience.
Technical Knowledge:
16. Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, tools, and testing procedures.
17. Familiarity with electrical safety standards and data collection tools.
18. Basic knowledge of sterilization system layouts and components.
Core Skills:
19. Proficient in using standard electro-mechanical tools.
20. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
21. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, even across language barriers.
22. Ability to lift, rig, and handle equipment safely.
23. Organized, analytical, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
24. Creative problem-solver with a customer-first mindset.
Language Requirement:
25. Fluency in English is mandatory (spoken and written). Additional languages are a plus.
