In order to meet its ambitious production and product development roadmap, Thales increase team and looking for Engineering Delivery Manager.
The Engineering Delivery Management (EDM) role is focused on technical management of engineering activities. As an EDM, you will be responsible for building the team with the main focus on delivering of engineering. You will be working closely together with the engineering teams, with the aim of creating goal-driven team(s) based on engineering earned value management. Within this scope, you and the Product Design Authority are responsible for organizing the project, processes and deliverables within given time and money; Product Design Authority is technically responsible for the chosen solution, implementation and realization of this. EDM is seen as a key capability for our business and is well positioned to provide opportunity for career growth.
RESPONSIBILITY
Strong focus on Engineering delivery to achieve project on-time delivery and within budget Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering projects involving hardware, software, and system integration components Building a team with the same goals to create an efficient engineering chain conducting all engineering activities R&T/R&D Manage cross-functional engineering teams, including systems engineers, software developers, and test engineers Taking project execution to the next level by developing project management skills and project processes Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle Define and track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables aligned with contractual commitments Organize and facilitate collaborative work across teams: internal resources, local sub-contractors, foreign strategic partners and final customers in Belgium or abroad Collaborate with program managers, people manager, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure compliance with defense industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AQAP) Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize delivery processes, including Agile or V-model methodologies adapted to defense projects Ensure clear communication and reporting with internal stakeholders and external customers, including progress, challenges, and technical solutions Managing based on Program Engineering KPI’s Support regulatory and certification activities related to product safety, reliability, and performance
PROFILE
Completed Master’s degree in Engineering You have a proven track record with minimum 5 years of Project Management or technical leadership experience within an Engineering Company (high tech) in aerospace, defense, automotive, embedded system or other high-reliability industries Strong knowledge of systems engineering, product development lifecycles, and integration/testing processes Experience working with multidisciplinary teams on complex technical projects You are results-oriented, cost-conscious and you like to take initiative Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a highly regulated environment You work with a vision, and deal well with complex situations You have a “can-do” and “why-not-this” attitude You like to lead with integrity and engage stakeholders You have demonstrated excellent Project Management skills: scope, stakeholder, resource and risk management and able to work in multidisciplinary teams; Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence) You have a positive and cooperative mind-set, looking for what to improve in his own team instead of looking at defaults in other teams You are enthusiastic, dynamic and have excellent communication skills. Familiarity with defense industry standards, quality frameworks, and certification processes An experience in aeronautical, spatial, defense or automotive industry, as well as a knowledge of the standards DO-178, ARP4754 or ISO26262, is a plus. Fluent in French, English; knowledge of German or Dutch is a plus
