Position: Environmental Coordinator (Consultant)Location: Brussels (Etterbeek), BelgiumWork schedule: Part-time (between 90-120 days)Scope of the assignment: Advise and support the Environmental Department- Start date: 01/08/2025- End date: 30/06/2026Responsibilities:- Provide advice in accordance with legislation and permits to answer posed questions.- Review of soil investigations, groundwater analyses, dewatering reports, and formulate relevant measures and actions.- Support in drafting environmental permit applications and synthesizing environmental permits.- Assess compliance with legal requirements and permit conditions and provide guidance where necessary.- Register and critically interpret analysis/measurement results and provide advice for improvements.- Follow up on environmental studies prepared by external experts within the context of projects or the renewal/modification of environmental permits:- Critically review studies (including Environmental Impact Reports); - Ensure consistency between studies and other documents; - Assess feasibility andconsistency of proposed mitigation measures.- Monitor and screen environmental legislation (EU, Flanders, Brussels-Capital Region, and Wallonia) and identify and explain potential impacts- Estimate changing legislation- Inform/advise the Environmental Department and other involved parties so that timely actions can be taken; - Develop proposals for solutions.- Attend ad-hoc consultation meetings (on-site, or with external parties).Profile:- Master’s degree in Bio-engineering, Industrial Sciences, or equivalent through experience- Holder of an Environmental Coordinator certificate- Good knowledge of the legal framework related to soil and groundwater- Driver’s license (Category B)Language proficiency:- Dutch: fluent- French: good knowledge- English: good knowledgeSkills:- Ability to work independently- Critical thinking- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
