Internship Position
This internship will involve contributing to exciting robotics projects like PCB design and testing for space R&D applications.
The successful candidate will take part in the development of different PCBs for the avionics of a robotic arm and other subsystems of the robotic platform. Furthermore, the intern will focus on the design, simulation, integration and testing of the PCBs within the Robotics, Mechanisms & structure (RMS) Team and will mainly report to the RMS Team Lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 6 Months
* Start date: As of Quarter 2, 2025.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Design schematics and layouts for PCBs focused on power distribution, battery management, and motor control systems
* Perform simulations and analysis to validate circuit behaviour before prototyping
* Support the preparation of design files and BOMs for manufacturing and assembly
* Conduct functional and performance testing of PCB assemblies, including power/load testing, thermal behaviour, and fault response
* Collaborate with cross-functional Teams, including robotics hardware and software engineers
* Share and document progress, challenges, and solutions to the Team.
Skills and Experience
* Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics or a similar University program
* Working knowledge of PCB design tools (Altium Designer preferred; experience with KiCad, Eagle, or others also accepted)
* Basic understanding of electronics, especially in areas such as power electronics, battery systems, and motor controllers
* Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (for example LTspice), and use of lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
* Hands-on experience with electronics assembly and prototyping (knowledge of SMD soldering is a plus)
* Self-disciplined and a strong work ethic
* Creative, autonomous and a rigorous mindset
* Good written and spoken English.
