Our client is seeking an accomplished and highly strategic Vice President of Software Engineering to lead a large-scale, global engineering organisation responsible for the design, build and evolution of complex, in-house enterprise systems, including bespoke ERP and CRM platforms.
If you are interested in applying for this job, please make sure you meet the following requirements as listed below.
This is a senior leadership role for an engineering executive who has built and scaled proprietary enterprise software at significant scale, rather than implementing or maintaining off‑the‑shelf ERP solutions. The successful candidate will own the full software engineering function, driving technical strategy, execution excellence and long-term platform scalability across multiple regions.
You will lead a global organisation of 300–1,000 engineers and technology professionals across Europe, Asia and LATAM, with end-to-end accountability for engineering delivery, architecture, talent and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Organisation Management
* Lead and scale a global engineering organisation of 300–1,000 staff, including software engineers, architects, product managers, QA, and delivery leadership.
* Set clear vision, goals, operating models and performance metrics across geographically distributed teams.
* Act as the most senior engineering leader (“Number 1” for Software Engineering), reporting directly (or dotted-line) into the CIO, CTO or CEO.
* Build, mentor and retain high-calibre leadership and senior engineering talent.
Enterprise Platform & Bespoke Systems Ownership
* Own the strategy, design and delivery of internally built enterprise platforms, including custom ERP and CRM systems developed in-house.
* Lead engineering teams responsible for mission-critical business systems covering areas such as finance, operations, customer lifecycle, billing, compliance and reporting.
* Drive architectural decisions for highly scalable, secure and resilient enterprise software, built to meet complex and evolving business needs.
* Ensure the organisation avoids over-reliance on generic ERP platforms, retaining full ownership of core intellectual property and system design.
Technology Strategy & Architecture
* Define and evolve the long-term software engineering and architecture strategy, aligned with business growth and operational complexity.
* Champion modern engineering practices including microservices, API-first design, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native platforms.
* Oversee development across a modern technology stack (e.g. C#, .NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, SQL and equivalent enterprise-grade technologies), while remaining technology-agnostic where appropriate.
* Ensure high standards for security, performance, maintainability and scalability across all platforms.
Delivery, Governance & Execution
* Take full accountability for end-to-end software delivery across multiple concurrent enterprise programmes.
* Establish robust governance, SDLC frameworks and delivery processes to ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes.
* Manage complex stakeholder environments, balancing speed, quality, risk and cost.
* Own budgets, workforce planning and vendor strategy related to engineering delivery.
Operational Excellence
* Continuously improve engineering productivity, quality and reliability through tooling, automation and process optimisation.
* Ensure platforms are built for long-term sustainability, supporting future growth and regulatory or operational change.
* Drive strong collaboration between Engineering, Product, Operations and Business leadership.
Required Experience & Background
* Proven experience as a VP / Head / Director of Software Engineering within a large-scale, enterprise technology organisation.
* Demonstrated success leading very large engineering teams (300+ people) across multiple geographies.
* Hands-on experience building and scaling bespoke, in-house ERP and/or CRM platforms, not solely implementing or supporting packaged ERP solutions (e.g. SAP).
* Background in complex enterprise software environments, where systems support core business operations at scale.
* Strong architectural understanding of modern enterprise platforms and distributed systems. xphnsxz
