JOB DESCRIPTION
Department description and responsibilities?
* The People & Organization (P&O) Total Reward team is responsible for enabling and continuously improving reward-related processes, including salary review and bonus cycles. The team supports compensation decision-making through high-quality data, user-friendly tools, and reliable analytics, while ensuring strong governance and confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of compensation data.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
* Client P&O – Total Reward is looking for an experienced Power BI Data Engineer who can operate at the intersection of Power BI and the Power Platform (Power Automate / Power Apps).
* The mission goes beyond classic reporting: you will build interactive, user-facing solutions where end-users can enter and adjust data (write-back patterns), and where these inputs are integrated into analytics and process automation. Typical use cases include tools supporting salary review and bonus cycles, compensation data management, and API-based integrations across systems.
* Because the role involves sensitive compensation information, strong awareness of data confidentiality and GDPR constraints is essential.
PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end Power BI solutions (datasets, models, measures, reports, dashboards) for Total Reward analytics.
* Build interactive solutions that combine Power BI with Power Apps for structured data entry and controlled updates (enabling “users to enter and modify data directly”).
* Automate Total Reward workflows using Power Automate (e.g., approval steps, notifications, data validations, refresh triggers, hand-offs in the salary/bonus cycle).
* Integrate data from multiple sources using APIs and standard connectors; implement data ingestion/transformation steps to ensure reliable downstream reporting.
* Implement data modelling best practices (star schema where applicable), performance optimization, and clear semantic layers for self-service consumption.
* Ensure data quality, lineage clarity, and robust governance (including role-based access patterns where needed).
* Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate process needs into scalable solutions and clear functional/technical specifications.
* Maintain and optimize existing dashboards and solutions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability over time.
* Document solutions (technical design, data model, measures, flows, app logic) and support handover/continuity.
* Provide guidance and enablement to key users to ensure adoption of the created tools and smooth operational use.
Technical profile requirements?
* Strong, hands-on expertise in Power BI: data modelling, Power Query, DAX, performance tuning, and building enterprise-grade reports/dashboards.
* Strong experience with Power Automate for workflow automation (triggering, approvals, connectors, error handling).
* Strong experience with Power Apps to enable structured user input and interaction within business solutions.
* Proven experience with API integration (REST concepts, authentication patterns, connecting to external/internal systems).
* Solid SQL skills for querying, shaping, and validating data.
* Prior exposure to salary review / bonus / compensation processes or Total Reward analytics (domain knowledge).
NICE-TO-HAVE / STRONG PLUS
* Experience working with sensitive “people data” / HR data sets (compensation data) and understanding the implications for access control, data minimization, and auditability.
* Experience working with SAP SuccessFactors, ideally Compensation Module.
* Experience with SharePoint and/or Dataverse as part of Power Platform solutions.
* Experience with governance patterns for compensation analytics (e.g., curated metrics, controlled slicers, standardized definitions). (General best practice; not a hard requirement. xphnsxz )
* Familiarity with typical compensation analytics constructs and reporting content (e.g., employee compensation by department, plan analysis, position pay analysis).
