Join our team in Belgium and contribute to the successful delivery of marine infrastructure projects within a dynamic and international environment. As an Energy Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, coordination, and execution of complex marine and civil infrastructure works, ensuring technical excellence and innovative solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Lead and participate in the execution of marine infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with Belgian and European standards, legislation, and codes of practice.
* Take design leadership for specific segments of large‑scale marine infrastructure projects.
* Serve as the main technical contact for clients and external partners, including joint venture partners, engineering consultancies, subcontractors, and contractors during the construction phase.
* Prepare and develop designs (preliminary, basic, tender, detailed) for marine structures such as port and waterways, locks, quay walls, jetties, bridge foundations, flood areas, dikes, and breakwaters.
* Perform technical analyses to determine optimal installation methods, with a focus on innovative and alternative solutions.
* Act as a liaison between various competence centers and partners for water infrastructure, road infrastructure, spatial design, mobility, and equipment.
* Promote an integrated design process across disciplines, from concept to completion.
* Monitor project progress, quality, and financial performance, ensuring customer satisfaction and early identification of potential issues.
* Coordinate and coach junior engineers and CAD designers, overseeing drafting work and ensuring technical accuracy.
* Develop and apply technical skills in tools such as SCIA Engineer, DSheet Piling, Ansys, and Plaxis.
* Share knowledge and coach junior team members, staying updated on standards and new techniques.
* Support the tender manager in preparing innovative and competitive offers.
* Report to the project leader and team manager.
Qualifications
* Experience in marine or civil infrastructure design (at least 5 years).
* Proficiency in applying relevant design codes and guidelines for structural and soil‑structure interaction (e.g., ISO, EC, NEN, EAU, SB250, SB260).
* Experience in designing concrete reinforcement for complex 3D structures.
* Master of Science in Structural Engineering with a major in Dredging and Offshore Engineering, Construction Design, or Marine Engineering.
* Extensive knowledge of Belgian and European design standards, legislation, and codes of practice.
* Experience in contract management for public clients.
* Knowledge of standards for Building Consent (omgevingsvergunning) in Flanders is an asset.
* Open to short‑ or medium‑term assignments abroad.
* International driving licence / driving licence B.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Expertise in modelling with SCIA Engineer, Plaxis, GeoStudio, or DSheet is an important asset.
* Proficient with standard computer programs, including spreadsheets and word processing.
* English and Dutch fluent.
