OverviewWe are currently seeking a Freelance Electrical Engineer (LV & MV) to support a large-scale industrial production site in the Antwerp region. The facility operates continuous production processes and is undergoing ongoing electrical upgrades, capacity expansions, and reliability improvements across its power distribution network.
In this role, you will be responsible for the detailed engineering and technical support of LV and MV electrical systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable power distribution across both existing infrastructure and new installations. You will work closely with site engineering teams, external contractors, and OEM suppliers to deliver robust electrical solutions in a complex, live production environment.
Your RoleDeliver detailed LV & MV electrical engineering for an active industrial production siteDesign, review, and update single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and wiring documentationPerform load flow calculations, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination analysisSupport design and integration of MV switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and LV distribution boardsReview and validate technical documentation from OEMs, panel builders, and subcontractorsEnsure compliance with IEC standards and Belgian regulations (AREI)Support cable engineering including sizing, routing, and termination strategiesParticipate in technical problem-solving during installation and commissioning phasesProvide engineering input for brownfield modifications and system upgradesSupport FAT/SAT activities and ensure correct technical implementation on-siteCollaborate with electrical maintenance, operations, and project engineering teams
Project EnvironmentThe site operates as a high-demand industrial production facility with continuous operations. Electrical systems must remain highly reliable, safe, and scalable to support production uptime.You will be working in a brownfield environment where live systems must be modified or upgraded without disrupting ongoing operations, requiring strong technical awareness and safety-focused engineering decisions.
Your Profile8+ years' experience in LV & MV electrical engineeringStrong background in industrial or energy-intensive production environmentsProven experience with electrical power distribution systems and network designExperience with MV/LV switchgear, protection systems, and transformersProficiency in electrical design tool EPLANStrong understanding of IEC standards and AREI regulationsExperience with cable calculations and electrical system sizingAbility to work independently in a technical engineering role on-siteStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsFluent in English (Dutch is an advantage)Eligible to work as a freelance contractor in Belgium
Bonus SkillsExperience with brownfield industrial upgrades and live plant modificationsKnowledge of MV protection coordination and relay settingsExperience in high-availability production environments (24/7 operations)Familiarity with energy monitoring systems or power quality analysisExposure to commissioning and plant reliability improvement projects
