Role SummaryThe Associate Director, Medical Affairs Belgium is the senior medical leader within the Belgian affiliate, responsible for providing strategic and scientific leadership across the local portfolio with a strong focus on cardiometabolic disease. This role combines people leadership, medical strategy, and high-level stakeholder engagement and is critical to supporting the continued growth of a rapidly expanding, top-tier pharmaceutical organization.The position leads a small, highly qualified Medical Affairs team of three (PhD- and Medical Affairs–trained professionals) and plays a key role in shaping medical excellence at affiliate level.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute the local Medical Affairs strategy in alignment with global and regional objectivesProvide medical and scientific leadership across the Belgian affiliate portfolio, with emphasis on cardiometabolic healthManage, coach, and develop a high-performing Medical Affairs team (3 FTEs)Act as a senior medical expert and strategic partner to cross-functional teams (Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical)Drive high-quality scientific exchange with key external stakeholders, including KOLs, investigators, and scientific societiesOversee medical input into launch, lifecycle management, real-world evidence, and post-marketing activitiesEnsure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and industry codesRepresent the affiliate medically at scientific meetings, advisory boards, and congresses
QualificationsMedical Degree (MD) requiredStrong clinical background, ideally as a cardiologist or endocrinologist, or with deep expertise in cardiometabolic healthSignificant experience in Medical Affairs within a large pharmaceutical organizationDemonstrated people leadership experience, including line managementStrategic mindset with the ability to operate effectively at affiliate and portfolio levelExperience working in a fast-growing or dynamic pharma environment preferred
Reports to: Medical Director Belgium (responsible for the entire Belgian portfolio)
