The Head of Credit is responsible for overseeing the credit granting process for CIL in Brazil, with the purpose to optimize company trades and minimize PnL losses. The key focus is the Origination business for G&O and Sugar, Cotton and Coffee. This position will be independent to commercial function and be fully supported by Global Risk Team, ERC and ultimately by CIL Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
* Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis and credit decisions of counterparties amongst all the commodities traded by COFCO Brazil.
* Be a strong partner for the Origination teams and an expert on all means of securities particularly for prefinance operations.
* Work closely and guide the country’s leadership on new counterparties and strategies.
* Manage the counterparty portfolio performance using metrics such as mark to market exposure, potential future exposure and CVA.
* Keep up to date with macro-economic impacts on the business and industry trends.
* Perform risks assessments, identifying, describing, and estimating the risks affecting the business.
* Identify and highlight areas of potential risk to management and commercial teams and elevate transactions and issues when appropriate.
* Ensure that the credit processes, policies, and activities are aligned with the parameters of the organization’s policies and standards and regulatory developments.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and the global risk team.
* Ensure proper credit administration, documentation, and reporting.
* Ensure the updates on Exposure Reports, Watchlist and No Trade Reports.
* Drive efficiency through technical innovation and process improvements.
* Develop and lead a self-driven team of experts.
* Supports and acts as a key user on projects.
* Recruit, Develop and retain the best talents to organization, though coaching and mentoring.
* Ensure compliance and good behaviours in the area of responsibility.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Agronomy.
Several years of professional experience in credit risk at agribusiness companies and an experienced team leader.
Required Skills
* Strong risk experience and knowledge gained from working in the Agri commodity business.
* Strong background in financial credit risk analysis (multi commodities)
* Strong background in farmer credit risk analysis (multi commodities)
* Strong understanding of the risks and exposure in the Agri commodity business.
* Solid understanding of risk metrics such as PFE and CVA.
* Experience in dealing with large credit portfolios with a large variety of counterparties ranging from small farmers to large multinationals.
* Solid people management skills.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Strong knowledge on Brazilian origination commodities (multi commodities)
* Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert.
