We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Accountant to join our Finance team in Waregem. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting month-end closing activities.
You will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, compliance with internal controls, and contributing to the efficiency of the finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Process and verify incoming supplier invoices in a timely and accurate manner
* Match purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoices (3-way matching)
* Ensure correct coding of invoices in the accounting system
* Prepare and execute payment runs according to payment terms
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
* Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, invoice issues, and queries
* Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
* Support process improvements within the AP function
* Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and other internal departments
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
* 1–3 years of experience in Accounts Payable or general accounting
* Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
* Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) is an advantage
* Good Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, basic formulas)
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload
* Good communication skills in Dutch and English (French is a plus)
