Agile Product Owner
I am seeking an Agile Product Owner to join an International organisation based in Brussels. This is a long term contract assignment and offers a hybrid working model, with 5 days per month at the customer offices otherwise work can be performed remotely.
As an Agile Product Owner what will you bring to the team ?
* Work within the agile process and is the final authority for decisions regarding priority, business value, and functionality for all the work done by the agile development team.
* Typically supervise several business analysts.
* Possess an in-depth knowledge of goals and desired objectives of the project.
* Interact and validate requirements with the business.
* Propose solutions by combining IT tools and business process refactoring or improvements based on an in-depth understanding of a specific business domain
* Create, maintain, prioritize and sequences the product backlog based on business value or return of investment.
* Creat user stories and acceptance tests from themes and features granular enough for a single
* sprint.
* Be involved in the decision making process related to user stories scheduling into sprints.
* Participate in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (SCRUM).
* Participate to retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
* Review deliverable and demonstrable product version/software functionalities after every sprint.
* Organize live demonstration of the product at the end of the sprint.
* Facilitate the acceptance of the product by the business.
* Develop and maintain standards for testing.
* Provide progress reporting.
* Assist with internal and external communication by improving of transparency and dissemination of information.
* Assists with prioritization and resolution of defects / bugs.
* May perform the role of Scrum master.
Required skills and experience of the Agile Product Owner
* Master Degree + 11 years of relevant professional experience
* Scrum mastery: deep understanding of Scrum roles, artifacts, and ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, Reviews).
* Agile coaching: ability to guide the team and stakeholders in adopting agile values and practices.
* Facilitation & conflict resolution: strong skills in leading workshops, mediating disagreements, and ensuring team collaboration.
* Servant leadership: supporting the team by removing blockers rather than top-down directing.
* Metrics & reporting: ssing burndown charts, velocity, and cumulative flow diagrams to track progress.
* Java JEE basics: awareness of enterprise Java concepts (application servers, APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines).
* ServiceNow fundamentals: knowledge of workflows, scripting, integrations, and ITSM/ITOM modules.
* DevOps & CI/CD: understanding Jenkins, Git, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
* Integration knowledge: how Java backends might integrate with ServiceNow workflows or APIs.
* Quality practices: encouraging unit tests, code reviews, and automated regression testing.
* Backlog management: collaborating with Product Owners to refine and prioritize requirements.
* Dependency management: Coordinating between Java and ServiceNow teams (often working on connected systems).
* Risk management: identifying technical and organizational risks early.
* Stakeholder communication: explaining progress and challenges to business and IT leadership in non-technical terms.
* Communication: bridging developers, testers, architects, and business stakeholders.
* Ability to understand, speak and write English [B1/B2 level]
The following certificates & standards are required for the performance of tasks:
* Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) mandatory
Optional:
* ITIL Certification above ITIL foundation (or equivalent)
* Project management certification such as Prince 2, PMP or equivalent
