Job Description
As a Data Modeler, you are an essential player in managing data for the Ministry of Defense. Your main responsibilities include:
* Developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models that closely align with business needs.
* Collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders to map and analyze data requirements.
* Designing and documenting database schemas, data dictionaries, and relationship diagrams.
* Ensuring that data models comply with organizational standards and best practices.
* Optimizing data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
* Supporting migration and integration of data across different systems.
* Working closely with data engineers and database administrators to implement data models.
* Participating in data governance initiatives to ensure data quality and consistency.
* Staying up to date with the latest developments and techniques in data modeling.
Profile
* Holder of a Master’s degree in IT, or equivalent through experience.
* Solid experience in software development and system administration in a similar role.
* Proven experience with data modeling and database design.
* Good knowledge of data modeling tools (e.g., SPARX, ERwin, ER Studio, PowerDesigner).
* Familiarity with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases.
* Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
* Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical data models.
* Precise and focused on data accuracy and integrity.
* Behavioral skills: teamwork, problem-solving, attention to detail, logical thinking, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Preferably bilingual (Dutch, French), or sufficient knowledge of French to participate seamlessly in meetings with other specialists and/or end-user representatives.
* Solid knowledge of technical English is essential.
