About the Role
We're looking for an experienced L3 Application Support Engineer to join a team delivering advanced technical support and modernization for NATO's enterprise applications.
The position combines COTS application management, cloud infrastructure expertise, and Level 3 support responsibilities within a secure, mission-critical environment.
You'll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing existing on-premise systems while supporting ongoing initiatives to migrate and modernize services in cloud and containerized environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide Level 3 support for enterprise COTS applications, ensuring service continuity and rapid issue resolution.
* Configure, automate, and maintain Atlassian products (primarily Jira Service Management and Jira Software) both on-premises and in Azure private cloud.
* Manage and monitor Kubernetes clusters and other containerized environments.
* Configure and administer Azure and AWS components, including CI/CD pipelines, EntraID groups, and cloud resource management.
* Handle incident management and troubleshooting, following ITIL principles and agreed SLAs.
* Collaborate with internal and external technical teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.
* Maintain and update documentation, knowledge base articles, and process guides for recurring tasks and best practices.
* Ensure compliance with NATO and NCIA security standards, maintaining access control and supporting system accreditation activities.
* Support users and stakeholders by providing clear communication, training, and continuous improvement input.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in application support or L3 support for complex, multi-tier enterprise environments.
* Strong understanding of COTS applications (commercial off-the-shelf software) lifecycle management.
* Hands-on experience with Atlassian Jira Service Management configuration, automation, and integration.
* Knowledge of cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS) including CI/CD and identity management (EntraID / Azure AD).
* Practical experience with containerization and Kubernetes in private or hybrid cloud setups.
* Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
* Excellent analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong communication and organizational abilities.
* Must hold an active NATO SECRET Security Clearance — applications without valid clearance cannot be considered.
Nice to Have
* Previous experience in NATO, defense, or highly regulated environments.
* Background in cybersecurity or infrastructure monitoring.
* Knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins, or similar).
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to work within an international team supporting critical defense systems, blending technical expertise with purpose-driven impact.
You'll operate in a hybrid setup (partly remote, partly on-site at NCIA Braine-l'Alleud), contributing directly to NATO's digital transformation initiatives.
📩 Interested and cleared candidates are invited to apply with an updated CV.
Only applicants holding a valid NATO SECRET clearance will be considered.
