For our client, Galactic, we are looking for an ambitious Area Sales Manager, ready to travel and to develop the German, Austrian and Swiss markets.


Our client, Galactic, is a leading global producer of lactic acid and its derivatives. Using a sustainable fermentation process based on sugars and non-GMO micro-organisms, Galactic’s technology helps reduce the carbon footprint of products while ensuring safety and quality. Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Brussels (Belgium), the company operates state-of-the-art production facilities and laboratories across Europe, North America and Asia, with products and services sold in over 70 countries worldwide.


As an Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for maximizing the commercial potential of your assigned markets in alignment with the company’s commercial strategy. You will define and execute local sales strategies, develop action plans and budgets for your countries, and implement these plans after management approval.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage and support distributor activities in your region.
* Prospect and sell directly to key end-users and mixers within your territory.
* Balance and allocate sales activities between direct sales and distributor channels, securing strong agreements to maintain or improve Galactic’s leadership position.
* Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements in coordination with management.
* Coordinate technical support follow-up with relevant internal teams.
* Maintain CRM reporting and prepare monthly sales statistics to monitor performance and market trends.


Main Focus Areas:

* Recruit and select new distributors and agents through active prospecting, field visits and participation in trade shows.
* Drive proactive market development, customer visits and participation in industry events.
* Negotiate pricing structures, contracts and budgets; manage credit committees.
* Manage distributor networks, including training, seminars and performance-based activities.
* Oversee sales revenue and budget control, optimizing the company’s commercial contribution.
* Provide continuous market feedback to support marketing tools and growth initiatives.
* Collaborate with internal customer service and other departments to facilitate order management.


Profile:

* Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial role, preferably in the food, ingredients or related sectors.
* Results-oriented “hunter” profile with a strong drive to develop new markets.
* Commercial mastery of prospecting, negotiation, quoting and smart pricing.
* Professional proficiency in English and German.
* Experience with digital sales tools (ERP Navision, CRM, LinkedIn, Teams) and strong Microsoft Office skills.
* Basic administrative and accounting knowledge.
* Personal qualities: active listening, adaptability, competitive spirit, autonomy, organisation, solution-oriented mindset and team collaboration.
