PpThe Investment Company Institute (ICI) is the leading association representing regulated investment funds, including mutual funds, exchange‑traded funds (ETFs), closed‑end funds, and unit investment trusts (UITs) in the United States, and UCITS and similar funds offered to investors in Europe, Asia, and other jurisdictions. ICI also represents its members on issues involving the capital markets, separately managed accounts (SMAs) and collective investment trusts (CITs). ICI’s mission is to strengthen the foundation of the asset management industry for the ultimate benefit of the long‑term individual investor. /p pbManaging Director of the Brussels Office /b at ICI Global plays a pivotal role in executing the organization’s vision in Europe. The Managing Director is responsible for executing the organization’s vision in Europe and contributing significantly to its global mission. This includes leading initiatives, engaging with policymakers, managing the Brussels office staff, and fostering thought leadership. The Managing Director reports directly to ICI’s Chief Global Affairs Officer (CGAO) and is expected to have a strong track record of execution, effectively translating ideas into impactful outcomes. /p h3Essential Functions Of This Role Include /h3 ul liExecution: ul liUnder the direction of the CGAO, translate ICI’s global strategy into actionable plans for the European market. /li liServe as a key advisor to the CGAO on formulating ICI’s strategy in Europe and work closely with other members of the global leadership team. /li liI mplement initiatives that align with ICI’s mission and enhance its presence in Europe. /li liFacilitate regular communication channels between the Brussels office and colleagues in other ICI offices. Share insights, best practices, and updates. /li liDrive thought leadership by identifying emerging trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices. /li liDevelop a broad understanding of ICI’s goals beyond Europe, including at international organizations such as IOSCO and the Financial Stability Board. /li /ul /li liPolicy and Regulatory Engagement: ul liRepresent ICI in discussions with European regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. /li liAdvocate for policies that promote a vibrant and competitive investment fund industry. /li liMonitor European regulatory changes and assess their impact on ICI members. /li liLead the European Regulatory and Policy Committee (ERPC) and other committees and working groups as needed. /li liDevelop position papers, comment letters, blogs, and other materials that help to shape policy and regulation. /li /ul /li liManage a High‑Performing Team: ul liManage the Brussels office and serves as chief administrative officer of the Brussels office. This will include responsibility for managing the ICI global staff in Brussels and engaging with various service providers and stakeholders needed to keep the office going, including the landlord, IT providers, governmental administrative authorities, and others. /li liInspire teamwork, dedication, and a strong work ethic within the Brussels office team and lead by example. /li liManage team members whose scope of work can extend beyond Europe and include, for example, IOSCO and the Financial Stability Board. /li liFoster cross‑functional alignment with other ICI Global teams. /li liIntegrate the team’s work closely with the rest of ICI. /li liDelegate work while providing training and mentorship to staff. Understand work priorities and communicate plans and priorities to staff. Understand team members’ needs and motivations—and assist their development. /li liProvide direct feedback to staff to encourage timely, open, and honest communication. /li /ul /li liStakeholder Relations: ul liCultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including member firms, government officials, industry associations, and other relevant bodies. /li liParticipate in industry forums, conferences, and working groups to influence policy decisions. /li liIncrease membership in ICI. /li /ul /li liCollaboration and Integration: ul liWork closely with other ICI teams (such as Research, Legal, and Strategic Communications) to ensure cross‑functional alignment. /li liIntegrate the work of the Brussels team into broader ICI initiatives. Collaborate on joint projects and leverage collective expertise. /li /ul /li liThought Leadership: ul liContribute to research, white papers, and reports on relevant topics. /li liEngage in public speaking, panel discussions, and media interviews to share insights. /li liPosition ICI as a thought leader in Europe. /li /ul /li /ul h3If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply: /h3 ul liA graduate degree in a relevant field (economics, finance, law, or related disciplines). /li liAt least 15 years of relevant professional experience. A proven track record in financial policy, regulatory affairs, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or industry associations is highly desirable. /li liAbility to turn strategic vision into practical actions and drive change. Promote an energetic, entrepreneurial, respectful and results‑oriented work environment, bringing a positive mindset to the role. /li liProficiency in analyzing complex regulatory issues and proposing effective solutions. Make data‑driven assessments based on thorough analysis. /li liStrong interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. /li liFocus on outcomes and drive continuous improvement. /li liNavigate complex challenges and adapt to changing regulatory landscapes.
