We are seeking a Senior Telecom Infrastructure Specialist (Freelance) for a high-impact, 10-month project with our client in Aalst, Belgium. This is your opportunity to drive the optimization of a mission-critical communications platform, shaping the digital backbone of a climate-resilient future.

Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and innovation of environmental monitoring and public service delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the monitoring and optimization of existing and new telecom connections for central sites and distributed measurement stations.
Drive the migration of a redundant Explore M2M connection to a multi-site Explore solution, already in use for business trunking.
Conduct studies, proof-of-concepts, and provide recommendations for replacing M2M with alternative mobile communication platforms, including satellite connectivity.
Coordinate and oversee planned telephony projects, including the implementation and follow-up of call recording solutions in call centers.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of unified communications and telephony infrastructure.
Deliver expert guidance on UC, PABX integration, Active Directory, and MS Teams telephony.
Ensure all work aligns with the client's digital solutions strategy and environmental mission.
Work on-site in Aalst or Ghent as required, with flexibility for remote work where possible.
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience as a Telecom Specialist in similar environments.
Proven expertise in Unified Communications (UC) and PABX integration, including Active Directory.
Extensive experience in the coordination, monitoring, and management of telephony projects.
8+ years working with Unified Communication technologies.
Technical proficiency in MS Teams telephony, LAN/WAN protocols, Routing & Switching, and M2M communications.
Hands-on experience as a Technician/Installer in network infrastructure.
Strong background in call center functionalities (virtual environments, call queues, recording applications, ideally with Mitel).
Demonstrable knowledge of Flemish government environments is a plus.
Fluency in Dutch at CEFR level C2 is mandatory.
Ownership mindset, proactive problem-solving, and a drive to deliver measurable impact.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, mission-driven context.

Other Requirements
This is a freelance position for a 10-month project (approx. 240 hours, 20% work regime).
Work is primarily on-site in Aalst or Ghent, with some remote flexibility.
Interviews scheduled for February 2026; project start date targeted for 16/02/2026.
All necessary licenses, software, and network access provided (except Office license; candidates must use their own company license or LibreOffice).
Experience within the Flemish government is a plus, but not required.
