Cybersecurity Engineer
Mission:
As part of the Security discipline of the Engineering group of THALES Belgium, the Cybersecurity Engineer will contribute to the successful development of a wide array of products through the definition, implementation, and testing of their cybersecurity aspects. They will consider Thales Cybersecurity standards, applicable regulatory frameworks, and emerging best practices. Their contributions begin at the early market capture phases and continue through to final qualifications and service phases.
The Cybersecurity Engineer should be technically passionate. With an existing background in IT, telecommunication systems, or cybersecurity, they will be eager to discover new technologies and continuously expand their expertise. They will support both security-centric projects and secure-by-design aspects of projects led by other disciplines.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their field of expertise.
2. Stay updated with applicable cybersecurity regulatory frameworks.
3. Act as the focal point for all cybersecurity considerations in bids and projects.
4. Support architecture roles on cybersecurity aspects of specifications and design, including Make/Team/Buy decisions and customer interface.
5. Contribute to technical documentation such as High-Level Design, Low-Level Design, Configuration Documents, User Manuals, and Testing Plans.
6. Perform cybersecurity risk assessments, design, implementation, and testing activities to meet project objectives.
7. Support implementation and testing teams by providing technical expertise, ensuring development goals and traceability from user requirements to final tests.
Profile:
1. Engineering degree in IT, Telecommunications, or Cybersecurity.
2. At least three years of professional experience in designing, developing, or testing cybersecurity products like IP encryptors or firewalls.
3. Expertise in hardware or software security topics such as side-channel attacks, intrusion detection, Secure Boot, or confidential computing.
4. Experience in at least three of the following areas: cybersecurity risk assessment (EBIOS Risk Manager), threat modeling, security architecture, source code review, Common Criteria, security testing, IP networks, Linux kernel.
5. Additional assets include translating business requirements into technical solutions, system architecture modeling, using tools like Capella, Polarion, Jira, Git, BitBucket, LaTeX, and troubleshooting Linux in embedded systems.
6. Knowledge of classified information handling, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
7. Enthusiastic about working with diverse technologies and environments.
8. Good communication skills in English; French or Dutch fluency is a plus.
