Freelancer Opportunity!! Network Security Engineer
Job weekly hours: 40 hrs./Fluent in English, with conversational ability in French or Dutch preferred
Based in Belgium, hybrid working 3 days/week at the office.
As a Network Security Engineer, you are responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement to meet the organization's NIS2 requirements. You focus on both proactive and reactive security measures to protect PMH’s digital and media infrastructure to meet the demands of PMH’s ambitions: Live, broadcasting, playout, content management, media operations, and more.
You will work across traditional IT systems and specialized media and broadcast networks. Collaboration with innovation teams, project management, technology teams, and external vendors is a daily aspect of the role.
You proactively propose, develop, and maintain future-proof security solutions that align with PMH’s strategic goals while ensuring operational effectiveness and business continuity.
Design and implement secure network, system, and application architectures aligned with industry best practices.
Define and enforce firewall, network, endpoint, and cloud security policies.
Evaluate and test security tools and recommend enhancements.
Collaborate with project and infrastructure teams to embed security requirements in design and deployment phases.
Assist in creating and reviewing operational documentation for NIS2 compliance.
Maintain compliance with relevant security standards (e.g., Develop and deliver internal security training and awareness initiatives.
You are occasionally available to handle critical security tasks or incidents outside of standard business hours (estimated 2–3 times per year).
3–10 years of experience in cybersecurity roles (Medior: 3+, Senior: 7+)
Solid understanding of firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, endpoint protection, and encryption technologies
Experience securing hybrid infrastructures (on-prem, cloud, media-specific systems)
Knowledge of broadcast media environments and video-over-IP is a strong asset
Demonstrated skills in incident detection, analysis, and response
Experience with Cisco, Checkpoint and Fortinet Firewall, Arista security-enabled networking products is a strong plus
Familiarity with automation/scripting for security (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Team player with the ability to work independently
