Academic environment
Located in the historic centre of the City of Namur, capital of Wallonia, the University of Namur, with more than 60 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programmes and its 11 research institutes and 11 technology platforms, welcomes nearly 8,000 students and doctoral students each year in its 7 faculties and has more than 1,300 staff members, including more than 800 researchers. Within the University of Namur, the Faculty EMCP (Economics Management Communication Politics – www.unamur.be/emcp) has nearly 1,800 students and 250 staff members, including 40 permanent academics and 70 researchers/doctoral students, spread over 3 schools (School of Social Sciences, Politics and Communication, Namur School of Economics, UNamur School of Management). It offers undergraduate (bachelor), graduate (master) and postgraduate (e.g., doctorate) programs in management and economics, during the day and at shifts. It also offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in political science and information and communication. Its members conduct cutting-edge research in many areas of expertise. The successful candidate will join the UNamur School of Management (UNSM). The 60 academic and scientific members of the UNSM contribute to bachelor's programmes and organize master’s and doctoral programs with a strong focus on themes related to finance, service management/marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, and information management. Its members develop research in these themes within 3 research institutes (Development Finance & Public Policies – DeFiPP, Namur Digital Institute – NADI and Namur Institute for Complex systems – naXys) and collaborate, through master’s theses, internships, seminars and consulting missions, with multiple companies and organizations, both national and international. These institutes offer an intellectually stimulating and collaborative environment, supporting researchers at all stages of their careers to help them flourish and progress.
Job description
The position involves, in equal parts, teaching and research duties. Teaching (in the field of IT management, programming and data science) will be carried out within the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. Research will be undertaken in the field of information management in a broad sense within one of the research centers of the EMCP Faculty and within one of the research institutes of the University (e.g., NADI, Namur Digital Institute).
Profile
Requirements
The applicant holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management or in Economics (or equivalent), and is expected to have excelled in his/her curriculum (degree obtained with honours). S/he has a good command of spoken and written French and English. S/he must display excellent teaching skills. S/he wants and is able to develop an original research programme likely to lead to a doctoral degree in Economics and Management supervised by a member of the School of Management.
