We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level Associate to join our International Trade Law practice in Brussels.
The successful candidate will join an highly specialized and growing team that advises high-profile private clients and government entities on a wide range of international trade matters, including trade remedies, export controls and international sanctions, customs, public international law, trade policy and trade regulatory matters (e.g., CBAM, EUDR).
Key Responsibilities:
* Represent clients in trade remedy investigations in the EU and in the UK.
* Assist clients with export control and sanctions compliance matters, including navigating licensing processes and handling enforcement issues.
* Provide advice and assist clients on:
a) sanctions compliance and enforcement procedures in different EU Member States,
b) dual-use goods and export licensing,
c) customs classification and rules of origin, including representation in front of the National Customs Authorities,
d) broader public international law and international trade matters.
* Navigate clients through the complex EU regulatory legislation impacting global supply chains.
* Prepare internal training on various trade-related matters for our clients.
* Collaborate with colleagues across Fieldfisher's offices in different jurisdictions.
Requirements
* In addition to holding a master's degree, the ideal candidate should have between 3-5 years of experience in international trade law.
* Qualified to practice law in an EU Member State.
* Strong proficiency in trade defense instruments, international sanctions, EU export control law, customs law.
* Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, paired with keen attention to details.
* Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within the network of Fieldfisher’s offices.
* Working proficiency in English is imperative; proficiency in additional languages such as French, Dutch, German or Spanish will be advantageous.
* LL.M. from a reputable law school in the US or the UK is a plus.
