Overview
TDW is seeking a Senior Manager for Plant Operations and Site Leadership of our Nivelles, Belgium location. This position leads the site by ensuring a safe working environment, achieving operational metrics, and serving as a strategic leader for the local team and a key member of TDW’s global manufacturing leadership team.
The Senior Manager, Plant Operations empowers a team through direct and indirect leadership within a matrix organization to put safety first and quality always while effectively leading the team with a collaborative and continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Leads Nivelles manufacturing plant to ensure facilities are operating in support of TDW objectives & policies and that products are delivered on time, at cost and per quality standards.
* Develops and implements operational business plans, strategies and organisation design that are consistent with short- and long-term objectives of TDW.
* Formulates and manages the annual budget, monitors capital expenditures to maximize return on investment.
* Leads lean manufacturing effectiveness improvement processes across the plant, develops programs and initiatives, serves as a mentor to develop staff in lean principles.
* Identifies and drives process improvement opportunities.
* Analyses and appraises (regularly and systematically) the effectiveness of the operations to ensure that established objectives are met, corporate policies observed, and prompt lessons learned and corrective action taken when necessary.
* Ensures appropriate technical proficiency to meet customer and market requirements and ensures that regional operations are conducted with a focus on safety and quality of service.
* Drives initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
* Initiates and justifies requests for machinery, equipment, and any other investment deemed necessary for the site.
* Ensures site inventory accuracy and drives inventory reduction initiatives.
* Builds a culture of safety and quality in the plant.
* Ensures that HSE rules and procedures are followed and that the Site complies with local and government safety regulations.
* Ensures that team activities and products manufactured are compliant with QHSE requirements.
* Maintains good social relations at all levels of the plant.
Experience
* Previous experience in practicing continuous improvement with the use of Lean, going to the Gemba to seek and listen, put solutions in place that are sustainable.
* Has led and collaborated in a matrix environment where you act as a key advocate and influencer to meet customer needs with those beyond your direct accountability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Engineering or business degree required, with minimum 7 years, including senior management positions in manufacturing and/or supply chain; international experience is a plus
* Advanced knowledge in problem solving
* Strong leadership and organizational skills
* Strong business orientation with the ability to maintain focus on priorities to drive results in a fast paced and changing environment
* Ability to exercise sound judgement and take decisions
* Proven success to inspire people around a common vision and goals
* Experience in dealing with trade unions (CPPT, CE, DS)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English with the ability to conduct effective meetings at all levels of the organization
* Ability to travel internationally as needed, less than 10%
