The Role: VAT Compliance Specialist
Location: Hybrid, Mechelen (Flexible - preferred 1 day p/week in the office with freedom to work from office more if you wish)
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a VAT Compliance Specialist to join our team on a permanent basis.
What you'll do
1. Support the European VAT Manager and provide expertise on all VAT and Intrastat matters for EU and non-EU operations, including import and shipment planning.
2. Ensure compliance with VAT and Intrastat regulations, maintaining deadlines and managing audits across Europe.
3. Develop, implement, and improve VAT systems, procedures, and controls - including those required under Sarbanes Oxley.
4. Lead and support the rollout of SAP and related applications (Concur, Ariba, I2P), as well as e-invoicing and SAF-T/VIDA implementation.
5. Deliver training to accounting teams and shared service centers on VAT processes and system usage.
6. Optimize VAT setup and cash-flow planning, supporting business and finance teams while reducing VAT finance costs.
What are we looking for?
7. Post Graduate with a Bachelor or Master degree in law/economics/tax
8. Demonstrable experience in VAT Compliance either in industry or with consultant firm is preferred
9. Fluent in English and good knowledge of French
10. Experience with Excel and Access
11. Financial & Accounting insight/experience
12. Familiar with commercial and financial systems
