Primary Purpose / Regulatory Responsibilities:
Part of the UCB Engineering & Sites and Facilities / Physical Asset Management Team, The Global Civil Works Expert will be the reference in infrastructure for UCB worldwide and accountable for the development of a global strategy to be applied on all engineering CAPEX projects. He must ensure that cGMPs, SOPs, Company Procedures and Good Engineering Practices (including Construction Safety and Green aspects) are appropriately integrated in all UCB standards / guidelines / best practices He's involved in.
The Global Subject Matter Expert – Civil Works:

• Reports to the Global SME - CSA

• Defines, develops & deploys technical standards including Safety and Green aspects.

• Defines strategy in his domain of expertise (civil works)

• Develop solutions including internal client (facilities, manufacturing, development, labs…) expectations and needs (present and anticipate the future ways of working)

• Monitors technological developments in his domain.

• Seeks opportunities to implement innovations in equipment lifecycle.

• Leads and Connects a Global Network of Experts (in & out UCB)

• Be a proactive part of the technical project (CAPEX & sustaining) by deliver standard, expertise and perform technical reviews.
Significant Tasks and Projects:

• Make sound decisions with agility

• Be a key actor and participate in the transformation of UCB sites

• Participate to and/or support the feasibility study and build the conceptual design for new projects incoming

• Bring his technical expertise to ensure the best technical solution is provided to Engineering & Sites and Facilities customers

• Ensure the technical follow-up of all projects managed by the Engineering & Sites and Facilities

• Support other initiatives within Physical Asset Management

• Ensure the technical "follow-up" (by technical review and spot check) of all projects managed by Engineering & Sites and Facilities
Responsibilities include:

• Working with Design Engineering Leads to define the best solution to meet the customer needs

• Ensuring the adherence to cGxP and EHS regulations and guidelines corresponding to related systems

• Developing and lead a professional network (internal and external to UCB) constantly assessing and seeking best practices for use at the site and for the broader UCB network (active participation at ISPE or similar networks is encouraged)

• Developing a Competency Matrix at a global level

• Defining & Developing Technical Engineering Standards taking accounts regulations, business constraints, safety & green aspects

• Seeking opportunities to implement innovations in equipment lifecycle

• Promoting digitalization tools in his own discipline
Education & Qualification
Master's Degree
Other (Specify): Knowledge of Eurocodes, seismic design, fire safety; BREEAM/LEED is a plus.

• Strong knowledge of cGMP/GLP regulations, ICH, FDA CMC, ISPE and PDA Guidance Documents is an added value.

• Recognized as an expert or leader in their specific field.

• Experience in Engineering Technologies in their domain

• Knowledge of BREEAM and/or LEED certifications in an asset

• An ability to take initiative and work both independently and in a team environment.

• Dynamic person with strong value commitment

• Experience in large and complex projects as well as both formal and informal leadership / coordination

• Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) contracting models

• Manages with a matrix of reporting lines and across functional areas

• Ability to share good practices and knowledge

• Can identify latest trends in the industry

• Can benchmark against peers in the industry

• Excellent communication skills (able to present to Senior Management) and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Broad Leadership experience for the management of internal and external resources in international environment
Competencies

• Strong technical skills and the ability to explain complex issues and requirements in an easily understood manner.

• Ability to apply previous learning and ideas to new situations, projects, and teams, developing creative solutions to manage risk to a reasonably practicable level.

• Ability to communicate effectively and make presentations with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.

• Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to both take direction and mentor other team members.

• Able to translate customers' needs in technical requirements.

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and the ability to compose correspondence and reports.

• Full professional proficiency in French and English (both oral and written)
